“Careers, degrees, marriages, families, homes--or lack thereof--don't necessarily reflect emotional healing and spiritual growth. How we treat one another does. We're not just equal in theory; we treat each other that way. How honest and open-minded we are is a good indicator of our progress. So is willingness to look at our part in conflicts, past and present, to apologize, to forgive, and to do better. Our readiness to accept responsibility, to help others, to grow through our hardships, to be grateful, to stop and breathe before we self-destruct or cause someone else unnecessary pain--these are the actions that will save our lives because we are all equally worthy of living.”

I’m thankful for the opportunity to openly discuss my struggles with things beyond my control. Your experience, strength, and hope show me that while our journeys are unique, we also share common themes and solutions. It's through what we hear, see, and feel from one another that we grow.

I’m grateful that your experience, strength, and hope is a source of joy, companionship, and mutual growth.

I’m grateful that EA creates a space where there are no divisions based on status or hierarchies, allowing us to truly connect with each other and with our recovery. Your experience, strength, and hope remind me that recovery isn’t just about the length of time clean; it’s about the journey and the honesty we bring to it. It doesn’t matter who I am or what others might think of me—I must have the willingness to be open, the courage to hold each other accountable

I’m thankful that I’m starting to recognize that God’s will for me is to live with dignity, to love myself and others, to laugh, and to find joy and beauty in my surroundings. Your experience, strength, and hope remind me that reaching this place—living and enjoying life “like other people do”—requires patience and the ability to not take myself too seriously.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to be more honest, as your experience, strength, and hope help me gain a clearer understanding of what’s true.

12/20/2024

I’m grateful that, regardless of my beliefs or how open I am to questioning them, I am always willing—at least to some degree—to show up for myself. Your experience, strength, and hope have deepened my understanding of spiritual principles and how I’m already applying them in my recovery.

12/19/2024

I’m grateful that, where my differing moral values once made me defiant or judgmental, recovery has given me the courage and confidence to live in alignment with the values that resonate with me. While I may not always know exactly what the right choice is, your experience, strength, and hope show me that if I’m honest with myself, I can usually recognize what’s wrong and avoid it. With the guidance of my sponsor and my Higher Power, and through regular self-inventory, I continue to grow in my ability to live according to my conscience.

12/18/2024

I’m grateful that your experience, strength, and hope have shown me how to distinguish hope from mere wishing or expectation. I’ve learned that I can manage my expectations and the emotions that come with them, rather than being consumed by them. I allow myself to feel hope, to endure disappointment or redirection, so that I can still dare to dream, do the necessary work, and find my footing.
