Halloween should be fun for everyone! Here are some OT-approved ideas to help make trick-or-treating a positive experience for kids with diverse sensory needs:
🎃Choose comfy costumes: soft fabrics, no tags, and practice wearing them early
🎃Bring sensory supports: fidgets, headphones, etc. Take breaks when needed!
🎃Start early: smaller crowds and less noise can make a difference
🎃Practice ahead of time: role-play saying “trick-or-treat” or using a communication card
🎃Celebrate every success! Even visiting one house counts!
🎃 Look out for teal, blue or purple Halloween buckets! teal = food allergies, purple = epilepsy, blue = autism
