Did you know your jaw joint doesn’t work alone?
The TMJ (temporomandibular joint) is closely connected to the top of your neck - especially the atlas vertebra (C1), the first bone of the cervical spine.
So why does this matter?
The jaw and neck share muscle connections.
Tension in the upper neck can influence jaw movement and stability.
Posture plays a major role
Forward head posture or cervical misalignment can increase strain on the TMJ over time.
That’s why a thorough TMJ evaluation often includes assessing posture and muscle balance — not just the bite.
If you’ve been experiencing jaw pain along with neck stiffness or headaches, it may be time to look deeper.
