During consultations, potential clients often ask what labor looks like with me. My answer is always the same: it’s deeply personal and entirely guided by your needs and preferences.

Sometimes that means I’m quietly in the corner, simply present and ready if anything arises. Other times it looks like a gentle touch, steady reassurance, or a hug that helps you feel safe and grounded. I’m very intuitive in labor spaces and fluent in reading the room and stepping in exactly where I’m needed most.

One of my favorite parts of this work is being pleasantly surprised; like when someone is sure they won’t want much support especially physical, only to discover they needed more than they ever expected.

✨ Midwife vs. Doula - What’s the Difference? ✨

Although midwives and doulas share the same heart for supporting families through pregnancy and birth, our roles are very different (but beautifully complementary!).

As a midwife, I’m a licensed medical provider who monitors your health and your baby’s well-being throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I handle all the clinical aspects from prenatal care and catching babies to postpartum recovery and newborn care.

A doula, on the other hand, provides emotional, mental, and physical support. They’re the calming presence who helps you breathe through contractions, advocate for your wishes, and hold space for you every step of the way.

Whether you’re planning a home birth, a birth center birth, or a hospital birth, having both can make an incredible difference.

Personally, I love weaving both roles together when I can; offering my clients the medical expertise of a midwife and the compassionate, grounding support of a doula. 💕

And every now and then, I get the unique privilege of stepping into all the roles as a midwife, doula, and birth assistant when a labor moves fast and I’m the only one who makes it in time 🤩

Having a vaginal birth after a prior cesarean (VBAC) is truly a whole different journey. There’s so much to unpack; emotionally, mentally, and physically before preparing for birth.

Unfortunately, there aren’t many providers who genuinely support VBACs, but I want to share this as a reminder that you absolutely can have a safe, supported home birth with a midwife if that’s the experience you’re hoping for.

Do your research, choose your team intentionally, and prepare not just your body, but your mind and heart for this new birth story. Every person deserves options and the right to choose what feels best for them.

I am so proud and happy for these two right here. From the moment I met them, I knew I wanted to help them reclaim their birth after their first, traumatic experience that ended in an unexpected cesarean. Watching you face your anxiety head-on and work through every fear was truly beautiful. You educated yourselves, advocated for what you needed, and trusted the process! That is exactly what birth is all about.

Congratulations on your incredible HBAC 🥳🥰 I knew you could do it!

This first time mama was an absolute powerhouse, bringing her baby here with so much strength and determination.

Perineal support during land births using warm compresses for comfort also creates space for the head to ease its way out with gentleness. Supporting the perineum in this way can make a real difference in reducing tearing, which is a priority for me and more importantly, for the families I serve.

This mom really wanted me to share her birth because she said “these are the parts of birth that I would want to see.”

Shoutout to her amazing doula and birth photographer/best friend! And of course her husband and mother for all of their love & support before, during, and after the birth 🤍

This sweet baby boy was born on Easter! We completely forgot to take pics of his very first adjustment at 1 day young but here is his adorable day 3 adjustment pic. I had the honor of adjusting his dear mama throughout her pregnancy and she rocked her home birth in just 3 hours. Shout out to her midwife .be.your.midwife
