Wisdom Wednesday 💡

When a baby isn’t gaining as expected, the most commonly over-diagnosed cause is low milk supply or “low-fat” milk. In reality, human milk is remarkably consistent in calories and fat.

More often, growth concerns are related to milk transfer, feeding efficiency, oral motor function, or feeding schedule (amongst many other things)… not the milk or mom’s ability to supply.

If weight gain is a concern, the answer isn’t assumptions, it’s a comprehensive feeding evaluation.

Your milk is likely not the problem, but we can help you find out *IF* it is, and give you all of the tools to get on track.

Here’s the tea ☕️

Ties get a lot of attention (and some babies are really, truly tied), but feeding is neurological, muscular, and sensory involved, too. Cranial nerve (dys)function, coordination, and oral motor skills often explain why a baby struggles at the breast. That’s why comprehensive structural assessments matter. Always.

“Tampa Breastfeeding, Lactation, and Feeding Center truly saved my breastfeeding journey with my second child. I had worked with them a couple of years ago with my first and only needed one appointment, but that visit made such a difference as a first-time mom.

When I started having trouble with breastfeeding my second child, I knew immediately that I needed to come back. I genuinely credit TBLFC with saving my breastfeeding journey this time around. The knowledge, support, and reassurance I received were invaluable during a very stressful period.

I cannot thank Gabrielle and Brenda enough for their compassion, expertise, and guidance. If you are struggling with breastfeeding or feeding challenges (or even just need a little guidance as a new mom), I cannot recommend this team highly enough”

✨ Magic Monday ✨

Today’s 🌟 STAR hormone is oxytocin, often called “the love hormone.”

Skin-to-skin contact naturally boosts oxytocin, which helps milk flow, and supports bonding. This powerful hormone also lowers stress and helps babies regulate their temperature, heart rate, and breathing.

Oxytocin, you’re so cool! 😎
