Poison Prevention Weekend @ Fire Station 87 🚒🟢
We had an amazing time connecting with families at last weekend’s Open House! Many visitors shared their positive experiences calling Florida’s Poison Control Centers in the past and expressed how much they appreciate our services.
Guests picked up poison‑prevention materials, cabinet child‑resistant locks, and carbon monoxide detectors, and learned practical tips for keeping their homes poison‑safe from our Certified Specialist in Poison Information, Dr. Harris.
And the best part — many families saved the Poison Help line, 1‑800‑222‑1222, in their phones so they’re ready whenever questions or poisoning emergencies arise.

OUCH! If you’ve been bitten by wildlife, or by a pet acting strangely, give us a call. While unusual, cases of rabies are identified in racoons, bats, foxes, cats and other animals in Florida each year.

If someone has been bitten, post-exposure treatment is urgent because rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms develop. BTW, not all animal species can carry rabies!

We can answer questions in addition to providing free treatment guidance via the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222, 24/7.
