It’s Halloween at the Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH! Each year, our team members trade their scrubs for costumes and bring the trick-or-treating fun to our young patients right here in the halls of the hospital (including our President & CEO, John Couris, who paid tribute to Dunkin' and his Boston roots with his iconic costume this year!)

With decorated candy carts, big smiles, and plenty of spooky spirit, our teams go door-to-door spreading joy to children who may be too sick to celebrate outside. This reverse trick-or-treating tradition is one of our favorites—a reminder that a little imagination and a lot of heart can make magic happen anywhere.

We were also happy to welcome Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, who stopped by the Jennifer Leigh Muma NICU to join her niece, one of our amazing NICU volunteers, and her partner Ana Cruz. They helped spread Halloween cheer and delivered cozy blankets for families in our care, making the day even sweeter for our tiniest patients.

Wishing you a safe and happy Halloween, Tampa Bay! 💙🎃👻🍬

This , we’re sharing Heather’s story—a reminder of the importance of listening to your body and seeking answers when something doesn’t feel right.

A USF College of Nursing graduate, Heather spent more than a year searching for the cause of her mysterious symptoms before finding the care she needed at Tampa General Hospital and USF Health-University of South Florida’s multidisciplinary Pituitary Program. There, specialists discovered a small pituitary tumor responsible for Cushing’s disease.

Thanks to the expertise of the region's only academic health system, Heather underwent successful surgery and is finally on the path to recovery. Her journey underscores how expert, compassionate care can make all the difference. 💙

“The TGH family is so incredible. I’ve seen their compassion as a therapist, but becoming their patient showed me how deeply they care. They truly embody what TGH is all about,” said Megan, a breast oncology physical therapist at Tampa General Hospital.

When Megan began working in breast oncology five years ago, she never imagined she’d one day be on the other side of care. After testing positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation, she was diagnosed with stage two triple negative breast cancer at age 33—just three months after clear imaging. Thanks to the vigilance of her care team at the TGH Breast Cancer Center, her diagnosis was caught early and treatment began within weeks.

Throughout her five months of chemotherapy, Megan continued working, supported by her colleagues in Rehabilitation Services who delivered meals, sent care packages, and cheered her on as she rang the bell to mark the end of her treatment.

This , we honor Megan’s courage and the strength of every survivor who reminds us why early detection and support matter. 💗🎀
