I also provide Christian-based counseling to those who request it. I'm passionate about helping others become their best, most healthy self by working through the shackles that bind us to find our true inner power in healing. Far too often we mislabel ourselves as our emotions.
This can make us feel that we don’t have the power to change and shift ourselves.
The truth is YOU are not anxious….you have anxious feelings…as we all do.
You get to decide how you engage with them and what level of attention you give to those emotions.
It will take time and effort to change the way you think about your emotions, but it will be so empowering when you recognize you can and are doing it.
Start today…when you find yourself think “goodness, I’m anxious”, I want you to stop yourself and say “hold up. I’m not anxious…I’m just having some anxious thoughts.”. Then consider what those anxious thoughts are and what you might be able to shift them to that would elicit a more positive response.

It can be easy to write off the need for good mental health. Let me share with you a few reasons why you want to be sure you focus on your mental health just like you do your physical:
-better sleep
-better relationships
-increase productivity
-increased satisfaction with your life
While there are many more, I’ll leave it there for today.

Gratitude practice
This is one of the best protective factors against depression.
For any of my clients who struggle with depressed mood, I always recommend implementing a gratitude practice.
Start small.
Establish a routine at a time that works for you.
Try each day to come up with something different from the days before. This will force you to really think and TRY to find something to be thankful for.

These are all feelings we hold onto and carry with us when we have not forgiven for past transgressions.
Anxiety comes from fear of the future. We often fear the past happening again…however, when you’ve gone through the process of forgiveness, you have nothing to fear.
It doesn’t mean you won’t get hurt again, but it means you know you have the power to not let it negatively affect you.
