The Hernando County Sheriffโ€™s Office would like to remind our community about the proper operation of bicycles on our roadways.

Whether youโ€™re riding for fun, fitness, or transportation, following the rules of the road helps keep everyone safe.

Florida law requires bicyclists to:
โ€ข Ride in the same direction as traffic
โ€ข Obey all traffic signs and signals
โ€ข Use designated bike lanes when available
โ€ข Use lights at night - a white front light and red rear light
โ€ข Yield to pedestrians and stay alert for vehicles entering or exiting driveways

Motorists are reminded to give at least 3 feet of space when passing a bicyclist and to remain patient when sharing the road.

Letโ€™s work together to keep Hernando Countyโ€™s roads safe for everyone.
