👃✨Reconstructing the nose after skin cancer
This patient had a basal cell carcinoma at the tip of the nose. After safely removing the cancer, we reconstructed the area using a Rieger flap, which moves nearby healthy skin to cover the defect while preserving the natural shape, contour, and function of the nose. Since it’s only 5 weeks out, there is a little bit of redness at the incision site which will continue to heal.
Why this procedure is done:
✔️ Ensures complete cancer removal with clear margins
✔️ Preserves nasal structure and breathing function
✔️ Restores a natural appearance so the nose blends seamlessly with surrounding skin
Why facial plastic surgeons are involved:
Cancer removal is just one part of the journey. Facial plastic surgeons specialize in reconstructing delicate areas of the face after skin cancer, combining medical precision with aesthetic skill. We aim for results that are safe, functional, and natural—so patients leave healthy and confident.
