Happy Respiratory Care Week! We appreciate our fantastic team of respiratory therapists (RTs) and are proud of the care they provide.

They aim to improve lung health of our patients and help them with lung and breathing disorders. Collaborating with medical staff, they recommend treatments and therapies. They do analysis, tests and measurements of a person’s breathing to determine oxygen levels and other gases.

RTs also manage the intricate and complex apparatuses, ventilators and artificial airway devices for patients with breathing difficulties. They also educate patients and families about breathing and lungs so patients can maximize recovery.

✨ From nurse to resident ... at the same hospital! ✨

Dr. Reyleen Loreto’s journey is nothing short of incredible. She walked into St. Joseph’s Hospital 16 years ago as a nurse, newly arrived from the Philippines. Today, she’s back as one of our internal medicine residents!

Her path has been shaped by resilience, family and faith. From 5N to the ICU, from charge nurse to nurse practitioner, she never stopped growing 🌱

Her son with autism inspires her every day, and the loss of her father and sister to COVID-19 only deepened her passion for compassionate care 💙

After training at Vanderbilt and working in pulmonology and critical care, she matched into our St. Joseph’s Hospital internal medicine residency program right where it all began!

“My journey has been one of resilience, love and faith. I am endlessly grateful to my family, my colleagues and this community that has supported me every step of the way. St. Joseph’s isn’t just where I work — it’s where my dreams have grown, and where I hope to continue giving back for years to come.”

Today, we held our annual blessing of the pets in honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, and World Animal Day. The adorable pet photos our team members posted on our Chapel wall never disappoint! This week we also celebrated our 91st Founders’ Day! Events included our Founders' Day Picnic on the Patio, where lunch was served at 1934 prices! That's 25 cents a meal! Additionally, we held our Mass of Thanksgiving at the hospital Chapel. The special event honors the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany who founded the original St. Joseph’s Hospital on October 1, 1934! Thanks to all who were on hand to help commemorate the occasion.
