Hello September 🍂✨ A new month brings new opportunities to reset, refocus, and prioritize your well-being. This is a huge month for mental health as we transition into fall, shorter days, shifting routines, and seasonal changes can all have an impact.

Now is the perfect time to practice techniques that keep your mind and body in check: grounding exercises, daily movement, journaling, and intentional rest. 💛

I am so ready for fall weather… who else is excited?

What’s one thing you’re doing this month to support your mental health? Share below I would love to hear!

Every month it’s a great idea to take note of what is working and what isn’t and then adjusting your habits accordingly. What is one habit you want to bring into this new month?

Sometimes, what changes everything isn’t just the therapy it’s the time we take to truly listen. 💬

With EMDR intensives, we have the space to slow down, connect deeply, and follow the thread of a client’s story all the way to the root memory. 🌱

When we uncover where the pain began, we’re not just addressing symptoms we’re creating the opportunity for real, lasting change. And along the way, we’re building trust, safety, and a relationship that empowers the client to do the brave work of healing.

Because when someone feels heard and understood, the transformation goes far beyond the therapy room. 💛

Feeling anxious or overwhelmed? 🌀 Try this quick 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique to bring yourself back to the present moment:

👀 5 things you can see
🤚 4 things you can touch
👂 3 things you can hear
👃 2 things you can smell
👅 1 thing you can taste

It’s simple, but incredibly effective — especially during moments of high stress or anxiety. This method helps shift your focus away from racing thoughts and back to what’s real and safe right now.

At Tampa EMDR, we often integrate grounding techniques like this into therapy so clients have tools to use outside of sessions, too. 💛

Have you ever tried the 5-4-3-2-1 method? Did it help you feel calmer?

⚠️ Trigger Warning

In today’s conversation with Sumer & Lauren, we open up about a topic that’s rarely talked about but deeply important the trauma that can often be present for those seeking pelvic floor therapy.

This is a safe, compassionate space to shed light on the emotional side of healing, not just the physical. 💛

Our hope is that by having these conversations, we can help others feel seen, supported, and reminded that they’re not alone in their journey. Healing isn’t linear, but it is possible.

Wait… what’s pelvic floor physical therapy? 🤔

It’s more than you might think. Your pelvic floor muscles support bowel, bladder, and sexual health for both men and women. That means pelvic floor PT can help with:
💧 Urinary incontinence or peeing too often
💩 F***l incontinence
💥 Pain with in*******se
… and more.

In this series, we’re teaming up with two local pelvic floor therapists to break down what it is, why it matters, and how it connects to your overall health (and yes—your mental health too).

Part one starts here. ⬇️
Have you ever heard of pelvic floor physical therapy before?

Not all healing feels like a lightning bolt ⚡ — sometimes it’s a quiet shift you almost miss.

If you’re going through EMDR therapy, here are 3 tips to help you get the most out of your sessions:

1️⃣ Trust the Pace – Moving slow isn’t a setback. It’s how your brain safely processes trauma.
2️⃣ Ground Before & After – Deep breaths, sensory check-ins… these help regulate your nervous system.
3️⃣ Notice the Small Shifts – Maybe you feel lighter in certain moments or react differently in situations. That’s progress.
Healing isn’t always loud but every step matters. 💛

Where mind and body meet — a new series is here. 🧠✨💪

Recently, I sat down with Lauren & Sumer, two incredible pelvic floor therapists, to explore how EMDR therapy and pelvic floor therapy connect in ways most people have never considered.

From the body’s ability to store trauma to the healing potential of releasing it we’re diving deep into how these two specialties work together to restore balance, safety, and strength.

Follow along as we unpack the science, share real-world insights, and highlight why your mental and physical healing are more connected than you think. This is just the beginning.

Healing isn’t a race it’s a relationship with yourself.
Not something to win.
Not something to check off.
But a lifelong process of listening, unlearning, and returning to safety—over and over again.

Some days it looks like breakthroughs.
Other days it looks like deep rest, boundaries, or starting over.

The pace doesn’t matter as much as the direction:
✨ Toward softness.
✨ Toward wholeness.
✨ Toward you.

💬 What has healing taught you about your relationship with yourself?

08/06/2025

In trauma work, slow is fast. And here’s why:

Healing isn’t just about bringing up the memory it’s about integrating it. True transformation happens when the brain has time to reorganize, rewire, and heal.

When we move too fast, it can:
🧠 Disrupt the process
😞 Feel invalidating
🚫 Lead to regressions or even stopping therapy altogether

But when we pace intentionally, we protect the therapeutic relationship and actually create more lasting movement.

This is why I don’t rush EMDR.
I attune to where you are, not where you think you “should” be.
Because healing isn’t a race — it’s a relationship with yourself. 💛

08/04/2025

Healing isn’t a race and rushing can do more harm than good.

I see it all the time: clients come in ready to dive deep, wanting to start processing right away. And I get it. You’re ready to feel better.

But here’s the truth → just because you want to process doesn’t mean your brain and body are ready.

Before we begin EMDR, we spend time building a solid foundation:
✨ Nervous system education
✨ Understanding your states + what shifts you
✨ Creating tools like a peaceful place or a container
✨ Resourcing so you’re ready — not just willing

Why? Because the goal is healing, not re-traumatizing. This prep work protects your process and honors your pace. 💛

Are you living in survival mode without even realizing it?

Survival mode isn’t just “feeling stressed.” It’s when your nervous system stays on high alert bracing for danger even when life is safe. It can look like:
• Overexplaining everything to avoid conflict
• Constantly scanning for what might go wrong
• Feeling restless when you try to relax

Your body is doing its best to protect you. But living like this isn’t sustainable—and you don’t have to stay stuck here. EMDR therapy helps your brain and body process what’s been holding you in survival mode so you can finally feel safe, present, and connected again.

💬 Which one of these signs feels familiar to you?
📌 Save this reel for when you need a reminder: your body’s responses make sense.
