TODAY: The Florida Center for Nursing September webinar "Active Learning & Simulation in Nursing Education" will take place today at 11am EST. There is still time to register: flcntr.org/learning-and-simulation

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the use of virtual reality and simulation technologies to enhance practice readiness.
2. Discuss the challenges and limitations of using virtual reality and simulation in nursing education.
3. Compare different simulation modalities (e.g., high-fidelity mannequins, VR platforms, case-based scenarios) and their educational benefits.
4. Explore real-world examples that demonstrate the integration of active learning and simulation to improve quality outcomes.

Nursing education programs: the Florida Center for Nursing is offering Graduate Recognition Packets for cohorts preparing to graduate from pre- or post-licensure nursing education programs. flcntr.org/gradrecognition

Staff and faculty members from these programs can request FCN Graduate Recognition Packets for their nursing graduates.

464.0195, Florida Statute, calls for “proposing and creating additional reward, recognition, and renewal activities for nurses.” In accordance with the Florida Statute, the Florida Center for Nursing (FCN) works to enhance and promote recognition, reward, and renewal for nurses in Florida. In order to ensure that nurses begin their careers with recognition for their hard work in nursing school, FCN offers graduate recognition packets for nursing cohorts preparing to graduate from pre- or post-licensure nursing education programs.

The Florida Center for Nursing is collaborating with the Association of Practical Nurse Educators of Florida (APNEF) to present the APNEF 2025 conference Cultivating Competence: The Future of Practical Nursing Education, November 5-6 in Altamonte Springs, FL.

Today marks the start of Nephrology Nurses Week, celebrated the second week of September each year. Nephrology nurses are registered nurses or advanced practice registered nurses who care for people with kidney disease.

According to the American Nephrology Nurses Association, the roles of the nephrology nurse include home dialysis therapies nurse, hemodialysis/peritoneal dialysis nurse, vascular access coordinator/manager, transplant coordinator/manager, organ recovery coordinator, clinical nurse leader, and more.
