Today our consumers had an amazing time on our community field trip to Berry Sweet Acres! 🍓

The farm staff took time to educate everyone about how strawberries grow and how farms operate. Our consumers enjoyed the hands-on experience of picking their own strawberries while staff from Glory to Glory Support Services provided guidance and support throughout the visit.

These outings are more than just trips — they create opportunities for companions and consumers to connect, build relationships, and enjoy meaningful activities together in the community. Experiences like this help encourage social interaction, learning, and independence.

After strawberry picking, everyone enjoyed a nice lunch provided by Glory to Glory Support Services. It was truly a day filled with learning, laughter, teamwork, and community engagement.

⏰ Time Change Tonight – Spring Forward! ⏰
Don’t forget to set your clocks forward one hour tonight for Daylight Saving Time. While we lose an hour of sleep, we gain longer daylight in the evenings! 🌞
This also means more daylight and more opportunities to explore the community with our consumers—whether it’s going for walks, visiting the park, enjoying outdoor activities, or participating in community events. 🌳🚶‍♂️

Dr. Patricia Bath: Groundbreaking Ophthalmologist – Dr. Bath was a groundbreaking ophthalmologist who was an innovative research scientist and advocate for blindness prevention, treatment and cures. She invented the laserphaco probe, a device and technique to remove cataracts. Dr. Bath founded the non-profit American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness, and as the first Black female physician to receive a medical patent, Bath’s inspiring legacy continues through “community ophthalmology,” which works to address threatening eye conditions in historically underserved communities.

✨ Something Special This Year at Glory To Glory ✨
This year, we did something truly special. All staff were given the opportunity to enter their children and grandchildren into a holiday wish-list drawing.
The name that was pulled belonged to a very special young lady, Na’la, whose mother is a valued member of the Glory To Glory team. Her wish list touched our hearts, and we were honored to be able to bless her and her family.
To ensure fairness and transparency, the drawing was pulled in the presence of a witness, making this moment even more meaningful and official.

Today’s Outing: Bowling & Lunch at Gyros
Today we had an engaging and fun-filled outing with our consumers. We started our day at the bowling alley, where everyone participated to the best of their abilities. Consumers were assisted and encouraged throughout the activity, helping them build confidence, coordination, and social interaction skills. Staff provided guidance on lane etiquette, turn-taking, and safety while ensuring everyone enjoyed themselves. The group demonstrated great teamwork and positive attitudes, celebrating each other’s efforts and progress.
After bowling, we continued our outing with lunch at Gyros. Consumers were supported in making their meal selections, practicing communication, budgeting, and appropriate dining behavior. During lunch, we discussed healthy choices, table manners, and engaged in positive conversation. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the opportunity to relax and socialize in a community setting.
Overall, today’s activities promoted independence, social skills, and community inclusion. Consumers had a wonderful time, and staff ensured all supports were provided with safety, patience, and enthusiasm.
