🚑 Meet Landon — Paramedic, Ground Crew Rockstar, and Future Flight Team Prospect! 🚁💥

Landon has been a paramedic for over 5.5 years, with experience in 911 response, emergency departments, and now crushing it on the TGH Aeromed Ground team for the past 7 months. From a young age, medicine and aviation were in his blood — his dad flew CH53E Super Stallions, and by 13, Landon was already shadowing surgeons and watching EMS crews save lives.

But it was a deeply personal moment that sealed the deal. After witnessing paramedics help his mom through medical emergencies, he knew: “If she ever had to call 911 again, I wanted to be the one walking in to take care of her.”

In 2022, Landon came across a quote from our medical director, Dr. LeFebre that hit home:
“If you have the ambition and willingness to go through some tough times, you can succeed.”
That line stuck with him — it sounded like something his mom would say — and it became the fuel for his journey to AeroMed.

🎯 Goal unlocked: Landon’s ultimate dream? Joining the AeroMed flight crew. And he’s on the path — gaining critical care experience on the ground that could soon take him to the skies!

After the Call: Our Commitment Doesn’t End When the Flight Does 🚁

One of the unique privileges of being part of a hospital-based flight program at a Level 1 academic medical center at Tampa General Hospital is that our connection to patients doesn’t end after we land. Our crew members don’t just provide lifesaving care in the air, they continue to follow up, check in, and be part of our patients’ journeys long after the initial emergency.

Our flight crew had the incredible honor of reuniting with a pediatric patient they transported in critical condition. This time, it wasn’t a rush to the trauma bay, but a trip to the rooftop helipad, joined by the patient and their family, to see the very aircraft that played a role in saving their life.

It was an emotional and unforgettable moment for everyone involved. To see this brave, young patient smiling and sitting beside the helicopter that once carried them in crisis…it’s something words can’t fully capture.

These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do. And it’s the benefit of being part of a hospital-based team: we get to see the whole story, from crisis to recovery. 💛

🚁 “The helicopters, of course!” – Meet Crystal, TGH Aeromed Flight Follower 🖥️📟

Crystal’s journey into communications started with a ride along on her dad’s DUI squad.
“It was exciting,” she said. “So my dad asked if it was something I might be interested in, and of course I said yes.”
She went on to work as a 911 Dispatcher for Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, then spent over six years dispatching police, fire, and EMS in Plant City before finding her way to Aeromed.

Now with over 10 years in emergency communications and just over a year as a TGH Aeromed Flight Follower, Crystal has found her calling.

“The helicopters, of course!” she says with a smile when asked what she loves most.
“But honestly, I love being able to provide help and support to the local communities, whether that means getting a doctor on the line for a med control consult, dispatching aircraft to a scene, or helping our crews think outside the box to provide higher levels of care for critical patients. I enjoy it all.”

When asked what sets Aeromed apart, she didn’t hesitate:
“Dispatching helicopters is a different level of excitement. The experience is wild, and we have some amazing coworkers. Everyone brings something different to the table, we’re truly in this together as a team.”

💡 Fun fact: Crystal broke her wrist twice as a toddler—and even managed to pull her first cast off. “My parents still have it somewhere in one piece!”

🚁 Teamwork in Action! 🚒

TGH Aeromed had the pleasure of partnering with Palm Harbor Fire Rescue for three incredible days packed with both didactic instruction and hands-on Landing Zone (LZ) training — capped off by an on-site landing of Aeromed 1!

LZ training is a vital component of safe air medical operations. Ensuring landing zones are clear of overhead obstructions, free of FOD (foreign object debris), and properly communicated helps keep our patients, crews, and first responders safe during every mission.

✨ Bonus highlight: We had the awesome opportunity to give a local kids’ summer camp a tour of the aircraft! Their excitement was contagious, and we wrapped up a visit with a fun Q&A session — future flight crews and EMS First Responders in the making! 🚁👩‍🚒👨‍🚒
