TGH Aeromed is proud to partner with Pasco County Fire Rescue on this community blood drive supporting their Prehospital Blood Transfusion Program—a critical initiative that allows blood to be administered on scene when seconds truly matter.

By donating blood, you are directly supporting first responders and critical care teams who work every day to give patients their best possible chance at survival before they ever reach the hospital.

Donors will receive a FREE t-shirt, a $20 gift card, and have the opportunity to tour the station, meet first responders, see the fire apparatus—and even check out the Aeromed helicopter.

🚨 Today, Aeromed participated in a large-scale Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) training exercise in Manatee County.

🤝 Multiple agencies and organizations came together to train collaboratively, while also evaluating their own critical response capabilities to ensure readiness when it matters most.

🐕‍🦺 Aeromed used this opportunity to exercise our K9 Officer Care and Transport response. No animals were harmed during this exercise—our team utilized an Aeromed high-fidelity K9 medical simulator to safely and realistically train for these critical scenarios. 🩺🐾

With the support of Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Manatee County Mosquito Control, Dr. Devon Diaz with Veterinary Medical Center at Lakewood Ranch, North River Fire District and East Manatee Fire Rescue, the K9 Officer transport exercise was executed flawlessly. 👏🚑

Your commitment ensures our emergency response teams are prepared to respond to large-scale, multi-jurisdictional incidents with confidence, coordination, and excellence. 🚁🔥

Aeromed Academy registration filled in just over THREE HOURS after going live; and we are truly blown away by the response.

This level of interest reflects the incredible RNs, Paramedics, and first responders who are committed to advancing their skills and delivering the highest level of care to their patients. We are grateful for every single person who registered and showed support for this program.

The first 20 registrants have already been sent confirmation emails and will receive an additional email with further details in the coming days.

Friday Focus: When Seconds Matter in AAA Emergencies🚁

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) emergencies require more than rapid transport, they demand precise physiologic control.

At TGH Aeromed, we collaborated with our Medical Director and the USF Vascular Surgery team to develop a specialized AAA transport protocol designed to optimize patients for immediate surgical intervention.

Why this matters:

In suspected or confirmed AAA, elevated heart rate and blood pressure increase aortic wall stress, significantly raising the risk of rupture.

Our approach:
• Early, goal-directed heart rate and blood pressure management
• Protocol-driven resuscitation to maintain optimal hemodynamics
• Rapid transport designed to take patients directly to the operating room

First-line therapy:

Our protocol prioritizes Esmolol as first-line treatment, utilizing:
• Weight-based bolus dosing
• Continuous infusion titrated to achieve defined heart rate and blood pressure targets

Escalation when needed:

Our crews have second-, third-, and fourth-line pharmacologic agents available within protocol to maintain tight hemodynamic control when first-line therapy alone is insufficient.

If rupture is suspected:

In cases of suspected or confirmed rupture, TGH Aeromed carries two units of whole blood onboard. Early transfusion capability allows for rapid hemorrhage mitigation and supports improved physiologic stability while expediting definitive surgical care.

This is critical care in motion; delivering advanced resuscitation, precise physiologic control, and seamless surgical handoff when every second counts.

Belle, it's been a ball! After more than five years of bringing comfort, calm, and countless smiles to our halls, Belle, our first-ever facility dog and beloved Chief Smile Officer, is officially retiring.

Belle has been a steady presence for patients, families, and team members across our hospital, especially at our Muma Children’s Hospital. She showed up on the hardest days, sat quietly during anxious moments, and reminded so many of our patients that they were not alone.

Her impact is impossible to measure and impossible to forget. Thank you, Belle, for every paw print you left on our hearts. Enjoy your well-earned retirement! 💙🐾
