🎃🍁 AEROMED’S FALL FOR THE DOGS DRIVE! 🍁🎃

While our beloved annual fundraiser Aeroscare is taking a quick “paws” this year 🐾, we couldn’t just sit and stay! Instead, we’re fetching a new way to give back to our incredible partners at Valor Service Dogs!

🐶 This fall, we’re hosting a “Stock the Pantry” Drive to help fill the bowls (and hearts) of the amazing service dogs in training. We’ll be collecting:
🦴 Dog food & treats (from their approved list)
🎾 Toys & enrichment goodies
🛍️ Other pup-approved pantry staples

Even though Aeroscare is taking a break, it’ll be back next year bigger, better, and bark-tacular 🐕💙— but for now, we’re keeping the giving spirit alive and tails wagging!

🌟 This week, several of our Aeromed team members are attending the ECHO Conference in Kentucky! 🌟

The ECHO (Every Coast Helicopter Operations) conference is a premier gathering for critical care transport and emergency medicine professionals. It brings together experts from across the country to share the latest advancements in patient care, aviation safety, and team performance.

By attending, our Aeromed crew has the opportunity to:
🚁 Learn from national leaders in flight and ground critical care transport
📊 Gain insights into new technologies, best practices, and quality initiatives
🤝 Network with other programs to exchange ideas that enhance safety and efficiency
💡 Bring back strategies that support our continuous commitment to excellence, compassion, and innovation in every patient transport

We’re proud of our team for representing TGH Aeromed at this National conference, and we can’t wait to see how the knowledge they gain will strengthen our mission of bringing TGH care directly into the community.

✨🚁Today, the Aeromed 1 medical crew had the privilege of giving USF students an up-close look at our aircraft and sharing what it means to be part of the world of flight medicine.

From exploring the cabin to hearing firsthand about the unique challenges and rewards of critical care in the air, these future healthcare professionals got a glimpse of the teamwork, skill, and compassion that define our mission.

At TGH Aeromed, we believe in inspiring and investing in the next generation; helping mold tomorrow’s caregivers while living our values of safety, compassion, and excellence. 💙💛

🐾✨ Meet the Crew: Walker Valor ✨🐾

Say hello to Walker Valor, our very own black lab and Chief Resiliency Officer here at TGH Aeromed! 🎉 Walker will be celebrating her 4th birthday on 11/2, and she’s more than just a pretty face; she’s fully trained to recognize PTSD cues and will gently interrupt those behaviors, reminding you to bring your focus back to her 💛

🐶 Favorite Snack: Frozen strawberries 🍓
🏊 Favorite Hobby on Her Days Off: Swimming (she’s basically part mermaid!)
🎾 Favorite Way to Decompress: A good game of fetch with her ball or snuggling up with her people 🐾❤️
💙 Favorite Part of the Job: Taking care of all of her Furiends and family…whether two-legged or four-legged!
🌟 Superpower: Her full-body waggles that are guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone around her!

Walker isn’t just here for the Aeromed family; she’s also available to our community hospital and EMS partners. If your team would like a visit from Walker, or need her presence for a CISM debriefing or after a difficult call or patient contact, reach out to her handler, Alisha Burnett.

✨ Meet the Crew – Metro Aviation Edition! ✨

Meet Scott, Aviation Site Manager who has been with Metro Aviation for 13 ½ years and flying with TGH Aeromed for 7 ½. 🚁

His aviation journey started when he enlisted in the Air National Guard in high school:
“I enlisted in the Air National Guard in a F-16 unit, and I wanted to fly. I was a fuels technician then. I did a joint mission with the Army National Guard with their helicopters and I had never thought of rotor wing. They saw my interest and offered me an opportunity to go to flight school as a Warrant Officer.”

What keeps him passionate?
“First, I just love flying! Our ‘mission’ is just. It’s rewarding. Working with some amazing professionals in aviation as well as medicine is humbling. One of the most important things I love is Metro Aviation. A family-based organization that values family and quality of life for our teams. Safety is always top priority and there’s no pressure to do anything outside of your comfort zone.”

Scott knows first-hand what it means to be part of this family as he was once a patient himself. After suffering an acute MI, he was flown by TGH Aeromed. That experience deepened his connection to the team and the “family first” culture that both Aeromed and Metro Aviation embody. ❤️

Fun fact:
“I am an avid competitive shooter and fi****ms enthusiast. I’ve been competitive shooting since before I had a driver’s license. I am also an armorer for a major brand name firearm company.” 🎯

Advice for future HEMS pilots:
“Don’t give up. You have to put in the time and gain the experience to fly as a pilot in HEMS. If you do that, fly as much as you can, get as much experience as you can, you’ll get there. We’re in a huge transition period now where the Vietnam era pilots are retiring and we’re seeing a much younger generation up and coming in this field.”
