Stories like these remind us why we do what we do. We are so grateful to play even a small role in the chain of survival and recovery for patients like this young girl.

After the incredible work of our EMS partners at the scene, our flight teams have the privilege of bringing Tampa General Hospital care directly to the patient and beginning that journey alongside them. We may only be one link in the chain, but it is an honor we never take for granted.

Wishing this sweet girl continued healing and strength on her road to recovery. 💙 We are so grateful to have been a part of your story of survival and resilience!!

Not your average day at work… 🌿🚁🔥

This week, TGH Aeromed crews traded the helipad for the Green Swamp in Dade City for our Safety and Survival Days and let’s just say things got REAL, fast.

From navigating through the woods with a compass, to hands on familiarization with every item in our aircraft survival kits, building fires, and operating in areas where even cell service disappeared… our crews got pushed outside their comfort zones in the best way possible.

And honestly? Never thought we’d be checking each other for ticks at a work event… but here we are. 😂

Don’t worry though… nobody ate bugs.
On purpose anyway. 🪲😅

A HUGE shoutout to our incredible partners at MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife for helping make this training even more realistic, challenging, and unforgettable. Their expertise and support added an entirely different level to the experience and reminded us exactly why realistic training matters.

Because when things do not go as planned, preparation matters.
Training matters.
Teamwork matters.

We are incredibly proud of our crews for fully embracing the experience, getting uncomfortable, learning new skills, and having a little fun while doing it. 🌲🔥🧭

Another incredible Aeromed Academy is in the books 🚁🐾

This session was packed with hands on learning, engagement, collaboration, and an amazing group of participants eager to grow their knowledge and skills throughout the day.

A huge thank you to Haines City Fire Department for the incredible hospitality and generosity in hosting this course. Your support helped make this experience possible, and we are so grateful for the partnership.

Aeromed Academy provides participants with our Advanced Airway Course, K9 Care and Transport Course, 8 CEUs, hands on training, great swag, and so much more, all completely free of cost as part of our commitment to supporting EMS and public safety education.

To everyone who attended, thank you for bringing the energy and enthusiasm that made this such an outstanding day. We loved having you and cannot wait to see you at the next Aeromed Academy. 💙💛

TGH Aeromed is proud to announce that Donny Richardson has been named the 2026 Emergency & Trauma Services Divisional Nurse of the Year. 🏆🚁

For nearly 25 years at Tampa General Hospital, Donny has been a steady presence within TGH Aeromed, leading with compassion, professionalism, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to patient care.

One of Donny’s most impactful accomplishments has been the development of Aeromed’s K9 Officer Care and Transport Program. What began as a vision to improve care for injured K9 officers has grown into a widely recognized program that has educated agencies and providers across the state of Florida, with participants traveling from outside of Florida to attend and learn from his expertise.

Through his leadership, dedication, and collaboration with medical and veterinary professionals, Donny helped create a program that continues to strengthen prehospital K9 care, training, and operational readiness throughout the region and beyond.

He is an exceptional clinician, mentor, teammate, and leader who truly represents the very best of TGH Aeromed and Emergency & Trauma Services.

Congratulations, Donny. Thank you for the countless lives you have impacted and for the leadership and dedication you bring to every mission. 💙💛

To the moms of TGH Aeromed… this is for the women carrying the weight of two worlds at once. 💙

The moms who leave their own children sleeping peacefully in bed to go care for someone else’s child.
The women who miss holidays, bedtime kisses, school events, and ordinary moments they can never get back; because somewhere, someone is experiencing the worst moment of their life and needs them to come.

You are the calm voice on the radio.
The hands caring for critically ill patients.
The reassurance in chaos.
The person families will remember forever, even if they never know your name.

And then you go home…
Back to lunches to pack, homework to help with, tiny arms wrapped around your neck, and children who just want their mom.

People see the uniform.
Your children see the sacrifice behind it.

This Mother’s Day, we honor every mother of TGH Aeromed: our flight crews, ground crews, communications specialists, medical director, leadership team, and support staff. The moms behind the scenes carrying the emotional weight of this work long after the shift ends.

To the children of our Aeromed moms:
There are families who still have more time with the people they love because your mom showed up.

And that kind of sacrifice is extraordinary.

To our Aeromed mothers: thank you for every missed moment, every exhausted drive home, every tear held back, and every time you answered the call anyway.

You are needed at home.
You are needed here.
And somehow, you continue to give your heart to both.

Happy Nurses Week to the nurses who answer the call…every single time. 💙🚁🚑

This week, we proudly celebrate our TGH Aeromed Flight Nurses and Ground Transport Nurses who bring ICU-level care to patients wherever they are. The nurses who climb into helicopters and ambulances before sunrise, after midnight, and during life’s worst moments—ready to make critical decisions when minutes matter.

But Nurses Week is also about something bigger.

It’s about the bedside nurses calling report while managing a full assignment.
The ED nurses stabilizing chaos before we arrive.
The ICU nurses who continue the fight when we hand patients over.
The transport nurses across our region who share the same mission.
The educators, charge nurses, trauma nurses, burn nurses, NICU nurses, pediatric nurses, hospice nurses, and every nurse quietly carrying the weight of caring for others.

Healthcare does not work without nurses.

At Aeromed, we are fortunate to witness the strength of nursing across every phase of a patient’s journey. We see the teamwork, the trust, the compassion, and the resilience shared between nurses every day, whether it’s over a radio, across a trauma bay, inside an ICU room, or during a bedside handoff.

To our Aeromed nurses:
Thank you for representing this profession with courage, integrity, clinical excellence, and compassion. Thank you for the sacrifices your families make so you can care for others. Thank you for staying calm in the moments that matter most.
