As part of HCA Healthcare, we’re proud to share that the HCA Healthcare Foundation will continue their collaboration with the American Heart Association on their Getting to the Heart of Stroke™ initiative through $3.9 million in funding and support. Together, the American Heart Association, HCA Healthcare and the HCA Healthcare Foundation are working to foster cardiovascular health, prevent stroke and improve patient outcomes by increasing cardiology and neurology collaboration, deploying evidence-based education and interventions, and identifying and minimizing health disparities.

🤝 With support from the HCA Healthcare Foundation, Getting to the Heart of Stroke™ has reached over 200 million individuals with evidence-informed education on AFib and stroke risk, while expanding outreach to more than 160 community organizations, including clinics, schools, food pantries and libraries, and implementing intervention programs focused on controlling blood pressure, improving nutrition security and maternal health.

🏥 Through enhanced coordination between neurologists and cardiologists, leading to improved in-hospital diagnostic testing and cardiac monitoring, ten of HCA Healthcare’s comprehensive stroke centers participating in Getting to the Heart of Stroke™ have improved stroke cause identification by 33%, and the continued partnership will enable these quality improvement efforts at our 43 comprehensive stroke centers.

Tomorrow marks 24 years since 9/11 — a day our nation will never forget. For Dr. Stephanie Reynolds, a physician at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital, the memories are deeply personal.

On that morning, she was an emergency room doctor in Queens, New York. Her husband, an NYPD officer, kissed her goodbye and said, “I don’t know if I’ll see you again,” before heading into the city as the second plane hit.

Thankfully, he made it home safely. In the days that followed, Dr. Reynolds did what she still does today — cared for patients with compassion, comforted grieving families and stood strong in the face of unimaginable loss.

This Sept. 11, Dr. Reynolds and her husband will return to New York to honor the officers in his unit who never came home.

Her story is one of courage, compassion and resilience. Watch the full feature from FOX 13 News - Tampa Bay: https://bit.ly/4mXnlAL

Patient safety remains a top priority at HCA Florida Healthcare and across HCA Healthcare’s integrated network of care. As a part of this commitment, HCA Healthcare established our own Patient Safety Organization (PSO) in 2014 to build systems, refine processes and enhance safety.

In our ongoing efforts to improve safe patient care, our PSO regularly refines processes and implements new safety measures. Our dedicated care teams work together each day to foster a safe environment for both our patients and our colleagues. Earlier this year, 49 HCA Healthcare hospitals were recognized on the 2025 Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospitals list for being within the top 5% of hospitals in the country for clinical excellence.
