Congratulations to the entire team for the successful First Robotic liver live surgery Demonstration using KangDuo Chinese Robotic system for segment 7 liver tumor resection.

This operation was supported by Fuji Film corporation and engineers from Kang Dua, together with team from Sinergy Medika Utama Jakarta Indonesia.

This operation marks another important milestone in development of robotic surgery in Asia, especially with cost effective robotic system instrumentation, affordable to wider hospitals and patients.

It was an honor and privilege to deliver the International Visiting Professor Grandrounds at the University of Indonesia School of Medicine- Ciptomangunkusumo Hospital in Jakarta attended by Department of Surgery Staff members and all trainees including nearly 100 virtual participants from all over digestive centers.

We discussed the Management of Liver Cancer, Innovative and Breakthrough in Immunotherapy, Hepatoma with micro/macrovascular invasion and differences among Barcelona Clinic, Asia Pacific and AASLD guidelines. We also obviously discussed surgical techniques for vascular reconstruction and ALLPS procedure robotically which are applicable in the local area with advanced liver cancer cases.

Robotic Hepatobiliary 2025 Course has just concluded at ORSI Academy in Belgium near Ghent, directed by Drs Dhondt and Sucandy together with world class faculties. The course covered case preparation, techniques of liver resections up to Robotic liver Transplantation. We had 23 senior Consultants surgeons coming from oround the World, as far as Singapore, Brazil, India, and Australia.

After a fruitful day 1 of didactic, Live liver surgery from AZ Groeninge operating room, and video lectures, we spent the whole day on day 2 for robotic cadaver robotic major liver resections. Packed full 2 days with Science and real surgeon’s discussions with a nice dinner in Cafe Theater - city center of Ghent in the evening.

Special Thank you to the Scientific committee of Falk Foundation, Professor Johann Pratschke of University of Berlin and Professor Stefan Fichtner-Fiegel of University of Freiburg, Germany for the invitation to lecture in Berlin. Both are leading Hepatobiliary surgeons in the Western Hemisphere and had significant experience in the field of Hepatobiliary surgery and Liver Transplantation. Each of us had performed more than 1000 hepatic surgeries of all kinds.

"Advances in Hepatology- From Mechanistic Insights to Novel Therapeutic Concepts" 2025 symposium by Falk Foundation was very well attended by many hundreds of hepatologists, surgeons, gastroenterologists, scientists, etc from around the World (as far as Australia) to advance the field of liver cancer treatments. It was an incredible learning opportunity and interaction with our medical colleagues about the new therapeutic options for hepatocellular carcinoma using multiple new immunotherapies, targeted treatments, and future genetic markers. Falk Foundation started as a pharmaceutical company producing drugs which then became a global industry and now they are passionately supporting medical education and research in hepatology, hepatobiliary and gastroenterology.
