Our robotic Hepatopancreatobiliary program in Tampa continues to treat patients with stage 4 unresectable metastatic colorectal cancer to liver and unresectable intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.

We aim to give hope for patients who are often young and otherwise healthy with these very difficult diagnoses.

Last week we placed a robotic hepatic artery infusion pump in a 46 year old man with recurrent unresectable colorectal liver metastasis 3 years following right hepatectomy.

We want to congratulate our 2025 summer students for their hardwork to complete research projects in Liver, Pancreas, Gastric, Bile Duct, and Esophageal Diseases, both Benign and Malignant tumors. Congratulations as well for our research staff who worked to prepare this event Dr. Kristina Millivojev, Garnet Vanterpool and Prof. Giuseppe Esposito. We are also deeply thankful for the research supports provided by AdventHealth Research Institute- Rob Herzog, Chris Davis, Ashley Brower and Miriam Merghani.

We hope to keep elevate the academic contents and level in our Hepatopancreatobiliary Program and continue to push science forward.

AdventHealth Digestive Health Institute is helping colorectal cancer patients make a faster and safer return to their daily lives using a new treatment option.

Nearly 30% of patients with colorectal cancer will develop colorectal liver metastases (CRLM), tumors that spread to the liver. Previously, these patients had to receive two separate major surgeries, which meant two lengthy recoveries and stopping chemotherapy multiple times, which is not ideal for effective cancer treatment.

We are hosting our Robotic Hepatic Artery Infusion Pump (HAIP) Dinner discussion on Tuesday May 13th 2025 to share our new liver treatment program for patients with unresectable Colorectal Liver Metastasis and Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma.

We hope to offer further treatment options for those who are initially unable to receive liver resection. With hepatic artery infusion pump, slow release locally-directed chemotherapy concentrated only in the liver is used to treat hepatic tumors at high dose without having systemic side effects. Systemic chemotherapy is also used alongside the HAIP treatment by medical oncologists.
