Our Gasparilla parade was a treasure trove of adventure and fun as our patients became pirates today and invaded the hospital hallways.🏴‍☠️📿Dressed in swashbuckling gear and riding on decorated stretchers and wheelchairs, they threw out beads and other trinkets to hospital staff along a special parade route.

Big thanks to our Child Life team, our incredible team members and special guests the Lakeland Sea Shanty Club and Krewe of Santa Margarita for giving our patients the opportunity to celebrate one of Tampa’s biggest traditions despite being in the hospital.

Congratulations to Haley, a recent recipient of the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. DAISY is a national recognition program for nurses doing extraordinary work for patients and families and among the highest accolades in the nursing profession.

Haley was nominated for the exceptional care, kindness and dedication she provides to her patients and their families. The parent of one young patient noted that the thorough explanations and ongoing support Haley provided helped manage fears and uncertainties during a difficult time.

When Harper, a young patient battling a rare mitochondrial disorder, was offered a new medical treatment in Canada, pediatric ICU nurse Tiffany Loomis’ launch into action truly defines compassion. From helping to coordinate a donated private flight to volunteering her time to accompany Harper and her family on the journey, the impossible became possible. 💙

Harper’s story is a powerful reminder of the dedication our nurses bring to every patient and family. Join us in honoring precious Harper, and our team’s unwavering commitment to offering hope.

When an opportunity presented for her pediatric patient to receive an experimental treatment in Canada, PICU nurse Tiffany Loomis volunteered to accompany the toddler so her journey would be possible.

Seventeen-year-old Madison Lockert’s extreme scoliosis required expert care to treat. Fortunately, through recommendations from friends, Madison’s family sought out Dr. David Siambanes, a BayCare Medical Group orthopedic surgeon at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. Now, after a successful spinal fusion surgery, Madison’s quality of life is greatly improved. Read how the procedure helped more than just her physical abilities.

For 17-year-old Madison Lockert, a successful spinal fusion surgery not only corrected her severe case of scoliosis but also gave her a newfound sense of independence and self-confidence.

Paul B. King, MD, has joined BayCare Medical Group at 12780 Race Track Road, Suite 205, in Tampa, where he is seeing patients from newborn to 18. Dr. King is board certified in pediatrics and is affiliated with St. Joseph’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.

Dr. King conducts wellness visits, performs sports physicals, provides acute/urgent care, cares for adolescent medical concerns and more. He encourages proper nutrition, physical activity and mental health support so his patients can develop a healthy mind, body and spirit. 🎁🎄We held our annual Holiday Shop today, a pop-up store where parents and guardians were able to select gifts for children spending the holidays in our hospital, free of charge. With help from our generous supporters and volunteers, we were able to provide gifts for more than 140 patient families.

🎄'Tis the season for spreading joy!🎄A big thank you to our generous team members for providing holiday presents to 39 families through our Mission Basket program. The annual gift drive helps families of former patients who are in need of assistance during the holidays. The program began in 1993 and over the years it has grown into a festive and friendly internal competition to see which hospital department can create the most original display out of the donated gifts. We're so proud of our extraordinary team members for helping nearly 2,200 families have a joyous Christmas during the past three decades.
