You may have heard that is out of office for a short until June 17. I’m with my hijito until summer school starts and, let’s be real, enjoying some much needed sweatpants and hammock time for myself. I’ll be checking Klara, my messaging service periodically. (This is where all my voicemail is routed, so I WILL get your voicemails!) I can’t wait to see you all in a couple of weeks- stay safe and do your exercises!

My mom just sent me this pic on the anniversary of my graduation from my Doctorate of Physical Therapy program many moons ago…oh what a day it was! An outdoor ceremony with nonstop wind and sideways sleet 😱 But after literally 10 years of higher education, I was so excited to say, “Trust me, I’m a Doctor!” 😘 My, oh my, how time flies. And after all these years I have never EVER stopped loving being a physical therapist. In fact, I love it more every single day.

To say I'm grateful is a huge understatement. Thank you Red Willow Hospice, New Mexico. Thank you, families of Taos, for trusting me to care for your loved ones. Thank you, Creator, for bringing me back from a bedbound state a year ago to now being able to care for my patients at Wise Ones Physio AND to be able to step outwards into my community to serve the needs of our elders as they transition from this life. How could I ever be anything BUT grateful. ❤️

With immense gratitude and humility, Lisa Cheek, Physical Therapist and Owner of Wise Ones Physio, joins the team at Red Willow Hospice. She feels privileged to bring her wide breadth of training and her passion for whole-person therapy into the sacred realm of end-of-life care.
Her specialties include chronic pain management, including myofascial and fascial release techniques, vagus nerve regulation, visceral manipulation, bladder and bowel care, and more.
Additionally, she carries advanced training and certification in oncology care, wound care, and lymphedema management, making her uniquely qualified to care for medically complex patients. Above all, Lisa is warmly compassionate, deeply connected to her patients, and driven to preserve your loved one’s dignity and comfort.
Lisa is a generational daughter of Northern New Mexico and acknowledges the honor and privilege of serving her community in Taos. Originally from Santa Fe, she has roots in Albuquerque, Cuba, Santa Rosa, and beyond. She lives in Taos with her husband, little boy, dog and cat. She enjoys gardening (badly), canning and preserving food, studying everything, and exploring our beautiful state.

We go behind the scenes at N.E.S.T., the new homeless shelter behind Super Save, providing temporary housing for both women and men. With COVID funds for emergency shelters running out, a team of Taos agencies jumped in to help people experiencing homelessness. NEST is a collaboration between First Presbyterian Church, Taos Men's Shelter, DreamTree Project, Heart of Taos, Youth Heartline, Community Against Violence, and St. James Church. The founding parties remain focused on ensuring accessibility for anyone in need.
