A Holistic Experience of Yoga

Blessed with the opportunity to sing at the Hanuman temple in Taos today for a beautiful event: The Flow of Love: Honoring the Heart Space of Sita, Ram, and Hanuman. 1:30-3:30 pm MT.

I will offer a live Kirtan and Mirabai Starr and Michael Sternfeld will offer an exploration of the flow of love and devotion embodied by Sita, Ram, and Hanuman - to embrace, open, and nourish our hearts.

This is an event that celebrates the creation of “Sita’s Gems,” an audio production that highlights feminine perspectives of the epic Ramayana. www.sitasgems.com

The purpose of yoga is to dissolve inner blocks so we can experience such ultimate truths directly and intimately. Yogic wisdom tells us again and again: what you see when you look in the mirror is not who you truly are.

The world is your body.

You are as much a part of me as my own arm.
The child in Gaza is as much a part of me as my heart.
The woman suffering in eastern Congo is as much a part of me as my eyes.

The whole world is my body.

When we know this — not as an idea, but as a living experience — caring for people, even strangers, becomes an impulse.

What if we embodied yogic wisdom? I know we want our world leaders to embody this wisdom. How can we expect them to if we don’t? Do you? Do I? I’m asking myself as much as I’m asking you.

Do you know the profound wisdom of yoga? Do you wish to know? Not as theory, but through the ancient practices that help us live and breathe it?

Excited to offer Kirtan at the Hanuman temple in Taos on Saturday, May 9th, as part of a special “Flow of Love” event.

The event offers Sita’s perspective on the epic Ramayana using female voices and commentary by women spiritual teachers.

Please join us in giving voice to Sita, elevating the divine feminine, and honoring feminine perspectives.

It’s South Asian Heritage Month -a time to appreciate our roots, how deep they live in our beings, and how much they influence our every moment. 🙏🏽✨

The Bhagavad Gita captured the hearts and minds of Carl Jung, Mahatma Gandhi, Thoreau, MLK, Jr., and countless leaders, activists, and artists worldwide. Jung’s shadow work and Gandhi’s nonviolent approach to freedom were influenced by this quintessential text on yogic wisdom.

Dive deep into this phenomenal text this fall. The course is online so anyone can join! (16 hours and one credit. Can be taken for college credit or not)

We’ll explore the wisdom and the many ways to apply it to our modern lives. For example, how to cultivate a stable and wise mind while facing life’s inevitable conflicts. 🙏🏽

Teaching anywhere is an honor. Bu to teach people in recovery - to be a part of their day - is one of the greatest honors I’ve experienced. To be with people so devoted to healing…my heart is full.

Here, at the residential recovery center where I’ll be teaching twice a week, I don’t hold back on sharing the depths of the philosophy as the teachings are so empowering and liberating, and the people savor them.

“Can u give us a handout with those mantras?” they asked me last time. Of course, yes, yes, yes… 🙏🏽

I think my heart just exploded. Today was my first day teaching yoga at a residential recovery center for those in early recovery from addiction.

The people were awesome - radiating joy, humility, honesty, and deep dedication to healing. I feel honored to have been a part of their day.

Last year, I taught yoga to elementary and middle school children and now, a new adventure. I love bringing yoga to venues where people just relish it like they did today.

I couldn’t take pictures of these beautiful beings today just like I couldnt take pics of the kids last year. Their faces may not fill this screen but their amazing spirits fill my soul.

So grateful for the practices and the opportunities to share them.
