After 186 days at Maynard Children’s Hospital—179 of those in the NICU—Tristan is finally home. Born at just 24 weeks, he overcame incredible odds, including a tracheostomy and g-tube placement. His journey is one of resilience, hope, and strength. We’re proud to share that ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital’s Safeguarding Care for Our Patients and Team Members project has been recognized for its impact with a 2025 Board Quality Leadership Award! This recognition is a testament to the dedication of every team member who helped make the hospital a safer place for patients and team members alike.

The project focused on preventing workplace violence and creating a culture of safety and respect throughout the hospital. We listened to team members, identified risks, and implemented protective strategies that prioritize both physical and psychological safety.

Congratulations are in order for Genesis Ray and Emily Flores Bravo, who just celebrated their Nursing Extern Graduation! Both will stay on with ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital to be a Nurse Extern II and will graduate from Nursing School in the next year.

NFL player Tyquan Lewis returned to his hometown of Tarboro recently to give back to the community he grew up in. Tyquan, who now plays for the Indianapolis Colts and is a former player of Tarboro High School, hosted a community weekend full of great family-friendly activities.

ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital was represented at the event and offered health screenings to community members.
