These past few weeks have been filled with the good stuff! The glimmers, God winks, and the reaffirming validations of why it’s so important to keep showing up each day to the best of my abilities, especially on the hardest days. I recognize that I got here by grace, the vulnerability to ask for help, and by God placing incredible people and resources around me. It’s with honor and gratitude I accept the position of Lead Psychological Health Coordinator for the Florida Army National Guard.
If you’re not familiar with what our nearly 11,000 active Service Members do- they’re the ones showing up first after hurricanes, natural disasters, they offer civil support, go on overseas deployments, and crisis missions, some all while working full-time civilian jobs and balancing family responsibility. From the Panhandle to the Keys, our Guard quietly shows up every single time to protect, assist, and rebuild!
Serving these soldiers and their families isn’t just my job, it’s my calling. I’m deeply inspired by the Guard’s mission and resilience, and I believe healing and posttraumatic growth should be as accessible as any piece of armor or tactical gear they wear. I believe wellness IS readiness.
In this new role, my mission is to strengthen access to trauma-informed resources, continue to reduce stigma, and help ensure that every soldier knows healing is possible and how to access it.
I thank my mentors and leadership, both past and present, for seeing something in me, and helping me grow into this opportunity.
It’s an exciting time to embrace this new opportunity during Mental Health Awareness Month. A reminder that strength sometimes it looks like asking for help, finding support, and rebuilding from the inside out.
Here’s to breaking the silence, building resilience, and leading with compassion (and passion)! Our soldiers and their dedicated families deserve nothing less.
