As Founders Week continues, we’re celebrating the generations of Faklis men who built, shaped, and continue to grow this business with their hands, hearts, and vision!

George and Michael Faklis, master craftsmen and sons of our founder, carried forward the values of quality and service. While George has passed, his legacy is still felt throughout our shop and everything we do.

George’s son, Vasile, now leads Faklis FIT, bringing together expert orthopedic care and a deep respect for our roots.

To start the week, we’re reflecting on our beginnings. Our founder, Vasile Faklis, was a shoemaker from Symi, Greece who came to Tarpon Springs in 1908. After serving in WWI, he opened what would become Faklis Department Store and Shoe Repair in 1912. His dedication and heart built the foundation we proudly carry forward today.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We’re just getting started.
