The first Memorial Day was a small parade in 1865 to honor the fallen of the Civil War. This year's festivities will not include parades, just smaller services honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, all while we are keeping up social distancing. The unofficial beginning of summer has us longing for the normalcy of cookouts and backyard pool openings, so let's stay strong together, apart.

This year, Mother's Day will be celebrated with social distancing - through window panes, by phone, Zoom, Duo, Facetime or drive-by. To all moms, grandmas, stepmoms, foster moms, adoptive mothers, dads pulling double duty and all motherly spirits in our lives - Happy Mother's Day!
