Is hyperbaric oxygen therapy uncomfortable?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive, closely monitored treatment. Patients rest inside a pressurized chamber while breathing oxygen. Some may feel mild pressure changes, similar to flying, but sessions are generally well tolerated.

For questions about HBOT, contact a wound care center near you:

How often should a wound be checked, and what should you look for?

Check wounds daily in the early stages and watch for:
• Changes in size or depth
• Redness, swelling, or warmth around the wound
• Drainage
• Pain or increased tenderness
• Skin color changes around the area

For chronic wounds or high-risk patients, professional evaluation may be needed weekly or more often. Contact a center near you for guidance: https://lifesupport-usa.com/lst-hospital-network/

Eating a balanced diet rich in protein, vitamins C and A, zinc, and healthy fats can support wound healing and overall wellness, especially when cold, dry weather can slow recovery. Include colorful fruits, leafy greens, lean meats, eggs, nuts, and whole grains to give your body the nutrients it needs to repair and protect your skin.

Cold, dry weather can be especially hard on diabetic skin. Moisturizing daily, inspecting your feet and legs, and keeping wounds clean, covered, and protected can help prevent cracks and slow healing. Avoid harsh soaps, limit hot showers, wear warm well-fitting socks and shoes, and stay mindful of blood sugar control—healthy skin supports better recovery.

If you notice redness, cracks, or wounds that aren’t healing, don’t wait. Call a Life Support Technologies center near you for expert diabetic wound care and support: https://lifesupport-usa.com/lst-hospital-network/
