So honored to be amongst these other wonderful poets in the new issue of . I can’t wait to read through the whole thing, and I hope you do too (see link in bio).

My piece is a lyric poem masquerading as a political statement about how poetry helps us somehow make sense of all this conflict and division. And somehow, how poetry helps us hold on to hope in our most despairing times.

Happy Birthday Emily Dickinson! There are too many poems to list that have done this very thing to us:

““If I read a book and it makes my whole body so cold no fire can warm me, I know that is poetry. If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry. These are the only ways I know it. Is there any other way?”

How did a 25-year-old divine the truth of all truths??? How is it that so many forget this center of our being and of our humanity?

This applies to so many of us, and if you know my work on OCD, boy does it apply to OCD sufferers too (not just to life and poetry).

OCD sufferers are hidden poets who need Keats to embrace the negative capability they are so capable of and to embrace the deep and powerful heart and imagination that is their true home.

How do you honor the holiness of the heart’s affections and the truth of the imagination?
