Chief Edward Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday evening. On Thursday, Sept. 4, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Taunton Police were contacted by Morton Hospital regarding a patient who had arrived with a gunshot wound. Officers responded to the hospital and identified the victim as a 24-year-old male, who suffered life-threatening injuries. He was stabilized at Morton Hospital, then flown by medical helicopter to a local trauma center. An initial investigation determined that the shooting took place at 11 Granite St. in Taunton. Based on the information gathered so far, investigators believe this was an isolated incident and not a random act of violence. The incident remains under investigation by the Taunton Police Detective Division. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Taunton Police Detectives at 508-821-1475. # # #
