This weekend and next, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 57 will be conducting our annual Forget-Me-Not fundraiser in the Greater Taunton area. Our members will be stationed outside some of the local stores requesting donations and handing out our famous blue Forget-Me-Not poppies. If you plan to be out and about, please put an extra few dollars in your pocket to toss into the bucket.
Funds donated to DAV Chapter 57 benefit local veterans in need. Perhaps most importantly, donated funds are crucial to maintaining our office at 5-7 Main St. in Taunton where we assist veterans with processing disability claims. Without access to this service, many disabled veterans would be unable to file a claim for the disability benefits they have earned.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to conduct our Forget-Me-Not fundraiser last year and we are limited in the number of locations where we are able to fundraise this year. Therefore, we are relying even more heavily than usual on the support of the local community.
Per our national charter, there are essentially two ways that local DAV chapters can raise money. The first is through our Forget-Me-Not fundraiser, and the second is through a direct donation to our chapter. Unlike other veterans groups, we are not able to raise money via BBQs, bar proceeds, or other common fundraising methods.
Please note that, local chapters are not permitted to have a “donate” feature on our websites. Donations made through the national DAV website are kept at the national level, they are not forwarded to the local chapter. If you would like to make a donation that will directly benefit local veterans, please send a check to:
