Our focus is on cats who can’t be handled—cats who didn’t choose this life. But the truth is, most of them didn’t start out this way. So many came from once-loved pets who were lost or abandoned and never sterilized. 😿

If we want to change their future, it starts with us.

If 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 sterilized cats and kittens before rehoming or making them part of the family, we could begin to slow the cycle and aid in the reduction of the feral cat population.

🐈 If someone offers you a cat, please make sterilization a priority.

🐈 Even indoor cats need to be fixed—it protects them and others. Indoor cats get outside all the time. Don't let an accidental litter happen to you.

🐈 If you think your kitty isn’t old enough to be sterilized, ask! Kittens can be safely sterilized as early as 2 months/2 lbs.

🐈 Male cats matter too—sterilizing them is just as important.

🐈 If you want to experience the miracle of birth, consider fostering a pregnant cat instead—and spare your own from adding to the crisis.

Every small choice we make can help create a kinder, safer world for them. 🫶🏽

HEALTH BENEFITS 🤕

▪️Prevents cancer: Spaying eliminates the risk of ovarian and uterine cancers and significantly reduces the risk of mammary cancer in females. Neutering prevents testicular cancer in males.

▪️Eliminates uterine infections: Spaying prevents pyometra, a potentially fatal uterine infection in female dogs and cats.

▪️Reduces prostate problems: Neutering can prevent prostate enlargement and other related issues in males.

▪️Reduces risk of certain diseases: Neutered males are less likely to get into fights that can spread diseases like feline leukemia and AIDS.

BEHAVIORAL BENEFITS 😇

▪️Reduces roaming and escape: Male pets are less likely to wander away from home to find a mate.

▪️Decreases territorial marking: Both male and female pets are less likely to spray urine to mark their territory.

▪️Calms unwanted behaviors: Neutering can lead to a calmer, gentler demeanor and reduce behaviors like aggression or hu***ng.

▪️Eliminates heat cycles: A spayed female will not go into heat, which means no more yowling, increased urination, or bleeding.

POPULATION BENEFITS OF SPAYING AND NEUTERING 🐈🐈‍⬛

▪️Prevents unwanted litters: Spaying and neutering are the most effective ways to prevent the birth of unwanted puppies and kittens.

▪️Controls pet overpopulation: Spaying and neutering help reduce the number of animals in shelters, preventing euthanasia and freeing up shelter resources for other animals.

▪️Reduces stray populations: It helps decrease the number of stray animals roaming communities.

Keeping your cats DRY is the most important step to keeping them warm this winter. 🔥

Provide whatever SHELTER you can - but trust if they are not choosing to use it, they’ve found a better spot. 😼

Your shelter doesn’t have to be large in size. A smaller shelter will retain heat better. And cats love little hidey spots anyway.

An easy way to enhance any shelter is to add STRAW. ✅

If you want to do a little extra, add foam INSULATION, bonus points if it has the foil to reflect their body heat back onto them.

Thank you for caring for all the community cats out there. 🐈

Tips to try if they aren't using your shelter:
• Try adding catnip to the shelter.
• Move food away from the shelter.
• Try a location farther away from humans.
