🌎 With everything happening in the world right now, taking care of your mental health matters more than ever. If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, here are a few tips to keep in mind ⬇️

✨ Therapy is like dating—sometimes you have to try a few before you find the right fit. Don’t get discouraged! If you know someone in the field, ask for recommendations.

✨ Cultural competence matters. Choose someone who understands and respects your background.

✨ Look for a therapist who specializes in the things you want to work on.

✨ Most importantly—find a therapist you can be your whole self with. Therapy doesn’t have to feel like a board meeting! My clients and I be cutting up!!! We laugh, cry, and everything in between. Healing isn’t just heavy—it’s joy, jokes, and breakthroughs too. 💕

👩🏾‍⚕️ For my fellow mental health clinicians: Find a therapist who works with other clinicians. We carry so much, and we need safe spaces to debrief. Remember—we have to be well in order to keep helping others on their journey toward wholeness.
