Good morning from a frosty Tawas Bay!
Cold weather is here, and so are icy sidewalks, slippery driveways, and bundled-up activities that can put extra strain on your body. At our clinic, we want to help you stay safe, strong, and injury-free all season long!
Here are a few simple winter safety tips to keep you moving comfortably:
🧊 Watch for Ice
Black ice can hide under snow or appear on well-traveled paths. Take smaller steps, walk slowly, and wear shoes with good traction.
🧣 Warm Up Before You Go Out
Your muscles tighten in the cold! A quick warm-up—light marching in place, gentle leg swings, or shoulder rolls—can help prevent strains.
🛷 Lift Smart, Not Hard
Whether you’re shoveling snow or carrying holiday boxes, bend your knees, keep the load close to your body, and avoid twisting. Take breaks if you need them!
🏡 Keep Walkways Clear
Shovel regularly, spread salt or sand, and make sure outdoor lights are working to avoid slips in the dark.
🧤 Dress in Layers
Staying warm helps maintain flexibility and reduces injury risk. Don’t forget gloves—your hands play a big role in balance!
If you do experience pain or stiffness this winter, our team is here to help you recover and get back to what you love. Stay warm, stay safe, and enjoy the season!
