Melquaides “Mickey” Withrow

Melquaides Vargas Withrow, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the young age of 85. Melquaides, also known as Mickey or Chala by her friends and family, was born in Ferris, Texas on December 10, 1940. Mickey, the eldest of 15, grew up in a time of segregation, she saw the world in so many different phases, moving around due to family working on multiple farms, having to enter restaurants and movies entering through a back door, to watching woman’s right unfold, women earning the right to vote, having rights in a marriage and owning her own home. She lived life to the fullest in every decision she made. Married twice, her first husband James Villareal, they had a son named Jimmy who passed away due to an illness as a child. She then met her soon-to-be second husband, Donald Glenn Withrow. They traveled the world on the back of his motorcycle, or at least the United States. She became the bonus mom to Don’s three children of a previous marriage and loved them as if they were her own. They soon had five children of their own. Life was not always easy, but she always made it work, she worked as a waitress most of her life until she went back to night school and got her GED and became a lab technician until she retired.

Mickey was a sports fanatic even as a youth playing sports with her family, from football, softball and as an adult, would play volleyball with the family. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to play sports and stayed active so she could attend as many events as she could. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. The family would gather at her home for holidays as the family meant everything to her. She followed all of the Texas teams, but there wasn’t a sport she wasn’t following, as she enjoyed watching games on television or attending in person. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan.

Mickey was a collector of many things, from her sports memorabilia, anything Elvis Presley related, collecting thimbles and spoons from the family trips to endearing gifts her family gave to her from their travels as well.

Mickey was preceded in death by Don Withrow, son Jimmy Villereal, daughter Joyce Hamby, grandchildren Bryan, Christina, Shawn, Jessica, great grandson Dalton, both of her parents, Antonio and Maria Vargas and siblings; Consuelo Garcia, Antonio Vargas Jr, Jose Vargas I, Jose Vargas II, Eloisa Villareal, Rojelio Vargas, Frank Vargas, Gloria Gaitan, Rebecca Vargas, Felipe Vargas, Prudencio Vargas and Rosalinda Perdue .

She is survived by her children Johnny Withrow (spouse Terri, children Nikki and Tony), Barbara Withrow (children Ray Jr, Natasha, Richard, Michael, Johnathan, Amber and Kimberly), Michael Withrow (children Chris and Cody), Bobby Withrow (spouse Kris, children Meghan, Leslie and bonus daughter Tyler), Vikki Edwards (children Felicity, Brianna and Ethan), Michelle Mosher (children James and Jasmine) and Angela Withrow (children John-Michael and Joshua), 33 great grandkids and 8 great great grandkids. She is also survived by brothers; Guadalupe (Wally) and Victor Vargas. She has left behind many family members and friends whose heart now holds an empty space from her passing.

Mickey chose to be cremated with no viewing or funeral service, but a Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 12-3pm ct at the Rabb House located at 151 N A.W. Grimes Blvd, Round Rock, TX 78664. Please come share a meal with us and celebrate her life with stories of love and laughter.

Garrett Matthew Connell

Garrett was born to an u***d mother and adopted by a childless couple, Larry and Susan Connell in 1992. He was baptized into the Christian Church as an infant at Grace Episcopal Church in Georgetown, Texas. As he grew, he showed intelligence and people skills and understanding beyond his years. He was naturally humble and sensed God in his own unique way.

His best friend Kel Gangi said, I remember when he ran for class president in the fifth grade. His slogan was “Vote for Garrett, he’s a good friend,” which became his motto for the rest of his life. He was known to be fair and always your friend.

He graduated from Georgetown High School in 2009 and then attended Southwestern University. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #520. He found purpose, camaraderie, loyalty and meaning in his work. His union friend Pat said to Ashley, “Garrett made an impact on my life. He was a cool guy and I truly mean this: he talked about you like you were his best friend. Every time we talked, he’d say, ‘Yeah, me and my old lady…’ and it was some story about y’all doing something fun or him being proud of you. You don’t always see guys talk like that about their girls, but it was a constant with him. You were his person thru and thru and everyone who spoke to him knew that.”

His instinctive love for children became apparent as he grew older. He enjoyed speaking “child.” He was a natural, gentle, paternal provider and protector to the children in his life - most recently to Juni, whom he loved dearly. He hoped there were more children to come.

Garrett and his father Larry would celebrate their birthdays together during Spring Break every year – often skiing in Colorado. Larry always held a special place in Garrett’s heart. His mother Susan always stood by him as his advocate, supporter, and friend throughout his life. Appropriately, Garrett’s funeral will be conducted on his 34th birthday to celebrate his life.

The one true love of Garrett’s life was Ashley Carter, a longtime friend. They enjoyed adventures such as the Renaissance Fair and went to many music festivals together. They traveled on many road trips across the USA to visit relatives. Garrett took Juni to gymnastics weekly and he loved taking Juni to the zoo.

Garrett was at a good place in his life. The future seemed full of promise. They made their home “on the farm” out in the country. Garrett was eagerly looking forward to being Ashley’s husband and Juni’s father for the rest of his life.

Child of God, you have been sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever. We will miss your bright, smiling face, and we look forward to seeing you again in those mansions Jesus is preparing for us in His Father’s house in the stars.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. James Episcopal Church or Prince of Peace Lutheran Church are preferred, or gifts to the charity of your choice.

Tamara Humbert

Tamara Lynn Humbert, 54, of Taylor, Texas, passed away on February 27, 2026. She was born on October 15, 1971, in Taylor, Texas to Thomas Schoenrock and Joyce Schoenrock.

She worked for over a decade on the order processing team at Dell Computer. She was dedicated to her work and built lifelong friendships there. Her coworkers loved her, and she shared many laughs with them over the years.

Kelly Gorham

Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Kelly Merrill Gorham, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a woman whose faith, resilience, and generosity shaped every life she touched.

Kelly was born on May 11, 1948, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Jack and Evelyn Merrill. Kelly peacefully passed away on February 26, 2026, at her home in Pflugerville, Texas, at the age of 77. As the third child in her family, she inherited a vibrant, fun-loving spirit and a natural charisma that would define her throughout her life. She had a presence that filled a room, not because she sought attention, but because people were drawn to her warmth, humor, and authenticity.

As the daughter of a Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Air Force, Kelly grew up learning to adapt, begin again, and embrace change. Throughout her childhood, she called many places home, including Kearney, Austin, England, Utah, Fort Worth, and Pflugerville. With each move, she shaped her independence and strengthened her resilience that would later define her as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She graduated from Richland High School in North Richland Hills, where she was active in drama and excelled academically, particularly in mathematics. It was there that she met the love of her life, Gene Gorham. Their story began young and was rooted in lasting commitment and shared values.

Kelly and Gene were married on June 7, 1967, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and quiet strength. In 1968, they welcomed their son, Sean, and soon after, Gene was deployed to the Philippines during the Vietnam War. During that challenging time, Kelly remained at home caring for a young child while pregnant with their daughter, Tara. She faced those years not with complaint but with resolve, embodying steadiness and carrying her family forward with courage. When Gene returned home following his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, they continued building their life together in Austin, Texas.

After many years as a devoted wife and mother, Kelly attended the University of Texas at Austin and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Nursing was more than a profession to her; it was an extension of who she was. She possessed a servant’s heart and a deep desire to care for others.

If you knew Kelly, you knew she loved books. She could lose herself in a story, then eagerly draw others into it, sharing what she had read and engaging in thoughtful, lively conversations. Her curiosity was constant, always learning, always exploring.

That same curiosity fueled her love of travel. Exploring the world with Gene became one of her greatest joys. Together, they visited England, Scotland, Eastern Europe, Finland, Ireland, Italy, France, Alaska, and even the North Pole. These trips were not simply about destinations; they were about shared experiences, laughter, and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Yet perhaps Kelly’s greatest gift was her ability to bring people together. Holidays at her home were not optional events; they were mandatory. Christmas Eve, Easter, the Fourth of July, and countless ordinary days became extraordinary because she gathered everyone around her table. She did not need a special reason to celebrate. She simply needed her family close.

She loved fiercely. She gave freely. She helped without hesitation. And she lived by a simple but powerful belief: there was always room for one more — one more chair at the table, one more plate of food, one more person to love.

Kelly is survived by her children, Sean and his wife Tammy, and Tara and her husband Shannon; her five grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley, Stephanie, Garett, and Savannah; her four great-grandchildren, Gus, Jacie, Parker, and Salem; her sister, Chris Grahmann and her husband Forrest; and her nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene; her parents, Jack and Evelyn; her brother, J. Charles; and her sister, Patricia.

Though we feel the weight of her absence, we carry forward the gift of her example, resilience, generosity, unwavering devotion to family, and the way she lived with an open door and an open heart. Her legacy endures in the family she cherished, the traditions she created, and the love she gave so freely.

And if we honor her well, we will continue to live as she did — always making room for one more.
