This month, UpliftUs Collective stands in honor of the ancestors who paved the way, celebrates the brilliance thriving today, and commits to uplifting the generations still rising. Black history isn’t confined to the past — it’s active, evolving, and shaping the future in real time.

✨ Happy New Year! We’re excited to step into 2026 with you. ✨

One year. Real impact.

In our first year, UpliftUS Collective served 150+ individuals through 14+ virtual and in-person experiences across the DMV and Detroit, centered on mental wellness, healing, and community connection. From monthly healing circles and a four-week Mental Health Awareness Month series, to men’s mental health spaces, community outings, and holiday gatherings—we created intentional spaces where people could be seen, heard, and supported in discovering their purpose and prioritizing their well-being.

This work is rooted in honoring lived experiences, breaking cycles, and walking alongside individuals and families as they build healthier, more fulfilling lives.

And this is only the beginning.

Thank you to everyone who trusted the process, showed up with openness, and helped us cultivate community. We’re entering 2026 grounded in purpose and committed to continued impact. ✨

Last Thursday was nothing short of amazing. Thank you to everyone who came out to volunteer with UpliftUS Detroit at Gleaners Community Food Bank! Because of your heart, energy, and teamwork, 16,140 pounds of food were packed — that’s 13,128 meals for our neighbors. Absolutely incredible. ☺️

And if serving last week filled you up the way it filled us up, we’d love to have you continue this work. The need in our community is still great, and our hands are still needed.

Gleaners’ South Campus Distribution Center in Taylor welcomes volunteers five days a week — packing bags and boxes, sorting and bagging produce, and repacking bulk items into family-sized portions. This food goes directly to families, seniors, schools, agency partners, and community centers across the region.

If you or your group want to stay plugged in, send us a message and we’ll get you connected. Let’s keep showing up for our community. ✨
