Manual Therapy 🫠

Have you tried dry needling, massage, spinal adjustments, cupping, etc… but haven’t found long term relief for your pain?

While manual therapy can be a great adjunct in your rehab process and help you get out of pain.

Like a band-aid, it doesn’t fix the root cause of most musculoskeletal injuries. 🤕

That’s where proper exercise prescription, load management, and training modifications come into play 💪✅

Ski Season is Underway!

As physical therapists, we see an uptick in ski related knee injuries this time of year.

Most ski related injuries involve an accident on the hill, usually resulting in injuries like sprains, fractures, or ligamentous tears.

One question we have for you over here at Peak Pursuit is: what have you been doing to help prevent injuries this season?

Some athletes train in the offseason to prepare for the hill, but most lack a formal training program.

This may increase your risk on the slopes.

If you are curious about what we as physical therapists suggest to help reduce risk for injury, reach out to us!

Give us a call at +13854925604 and we would be happy to discuss what a formal program would look like so you get the most out of this ski season!

How to Fix Golfer's Elbow - Fix Medial Elbow Pain

Golfer's elbow is a condition where the tendon at the medial (inside) of the elbow becomes inflamed or painful.

This not only impacts golfers, but many active adults or fitness athletes will get similar elbow pain as well.

Strength training is critical in the rehab process for golfer's elbow.

Here is a cool set up and tool that we can use to target the tendon at the medial elbow that may be causing your pain, and hopefully this will alleviate a lot of the golfer elbow symptoms you have.

For patients in our clinic with shoulder pain, performing strength testing is critical during assessment. ✅

This gives us as physical therapists a better understanding of how much to load the shoulder during a rehab program, and allows for us to meet the threshold of intensity when programming to create connective tissue change.

Here is an example of how we can strength test your shoulder during an isometric.

We use a device called the gStrength () to give real time feedback of force production and most importantly peak force during a particular motion.

Here is one test we do in clinic with our patients with knee or hip pain.

The idea of the lateral step down test to look at:
🔸 quality of movement
🔸 how the knee tracks (moves medial/lateral)
🔸 muscle strength/endurance
🔸 pain response

Which is all great data during an assessment, and allows us as physical therapists to have a better idea of what exercises/interventions are appropriate.
