In December 2025, the Taylorville Memorial Foundation received an unexpected $434,000 gift from the estate of Lorene Montgomery Miley, a nurse and area resident who passed away in 2004. Her life’s story reads like a movie script. But the impact of her gift is very real. Read Lorene’s story:

Born in 1914, Lorene Montgomery Miley was a small town girl with big city dreams. A nursing career became her ticket out of tiny Grove City,...

TMH is designated an Acute Stroke Ready hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. That means immediate stroke care is available right here in your community — triage, stabilization and coordination with advanced stroke centers for complex cases. When minutes matter, we're ready.

When a stroke happens, the hospital you go to matters. That's why stroke designations exist. Our hospitals have earned Comprehensive Stroke Center (SMH) and Primary Stroke Center (DMH) designations from The Joint Commission, the gold standard in healthcare accreditation. JMH, LMH and TMH are also designated Acute Stroke Ready by the Illinois Department of Public Health. No matter where you are in our community, you're close to certified stroke care.

Do you know all the warning signs of a stroke? The updated BE FAST acronym covers them all, and knowing those signs could save your life or someone you love. During a stroke, up to 2 million brain cells can die every single minute without treatment. Call 911 immediately so care can start ASAP. When it comes to stroke, time saved = brain saved.

Happy Mother’s Day from Memorial Health! Join us as we celebrate the people who show up with a mother’s love: moms, stepmoms, foster moms, adoptive moms, bonus moms, surrogate moms and those who fill a mothering role in someone’s life.

We also hold space for those who may find this day difficult, including those grieving the loss of a child, missing their mom or carrying the pain of miscarriage or infertility. However this day feels for you, we hope you feel seen, supported and cared for.

Congrats to staff nurse Ashton Bennett, our April Colleague of the Month! Since joining TMH in April 2021, Ashton has become a steady, reassuring presence on the acute care unit. Colleagues share that she is the person you want on your team on a busy day, because she never hesitates to answer a call light, help with a transfer or step in when someone needs an extra hand. “She is always ready and willing to help.” Ashton is also known for the way she puts patients and families at ease in stressful moments.
