If you are in Clairfield April 7th, stop by Clearfork Community Institute and step into the activity "In Her Shoes" with us!

In Her Shoes gives us a glimpse of the hardship's domestic violence victim-survivors go through when in and attempting to leave an abusive relationship. Join us in this free, walk-thru activity and discussions around the issue. We will begin at 11 A.M.

An advocate with the FJC will be available on-site the same day. Walk-ins are welcome to come meet with the advocate for free and confidential services. Even if you just have questions or need a listening ear, we will do our best to be the support you need🫶

Today is International Women’s Day! This year’s theme, , reminds us that generosity and support create real opportunities for women to thrive. For survivors of abuse, every act of support — whether providing a safe space, offering a listening ear, or connecting them to vital resources — can be transformative. Support is strongest when survivors can make their own choices for healing.

When survivors thrive, communities rise with them.

We were honored to attend such an important educational training by Mark Wynn. Thank you to Jared Effler 8th District Attorney General and staff for making this possible right here in Claiborne County!

8th Judicial District Hosts Domestic Violence Training Featuring National Expert Mark Wynn

The Office of District Attorney General Jared Effler hosted a multidisciplinary domestic violence training today featuring nationally recognized trainer Mark Wynn.

The training, held at Lincoln Memorial University, brought together law enforcement, prosecutors, advocates, healthcare professionals, educators, and students from across Tennessee and Virginia. The event focused on strengthening coordinated community response efforts, improving investigation and prosecution practices, and enhancing victim safety in stalking, domestic and sexual violence cases.

Mark Wynn, a former lieutenant over the Domestic Violence Division with the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department, has trained professionals in all fifty states and internationally for more than three decades. A Fulbright Specialist and survivor, Wynn brings both professional expertise and lived experience to his work, equipping communities with practical tools to improve offender accountability and trauma-informed response.

General Effler reaffirmed the District’s commitment to prioritizing victims of domestic violence and ensuring a strong, coordinated response through ongoing education and partnership.
