Did you know our assisted living and memory care community has a wonderful therapy department right here on-site? Our residents don't have to travel far for the care they need,whether it's physical, occupational, or speech therapy, our dedicated team is here to help them stay strong, independent, and active everyday. We are so thankful for their hard work, compassion, and the difference they make in our residents lives!

Today our residents and staff enjoyed a delicious apple tasting activity! We sample different kinds of apples paired with cheese, pretzels, graham crackers, and dip. Everyone loved comparing the flavors and sharing their favorites- some went for sweet, some went for tart, and some enjoyed them all! It was a perfect way to welcome the fall season together.

What an adventure! Today we took a road trip to War, West Virginia, about an hour away. Our residents loved passing through the coal mine towns and were so excited when we drove by a real coal mine!

Yesterday we had a sweet treat at Dogwood Crossing! Caris Healthcare joined our residents to celebrate national turnover day by making delicious cherry turnovers together. While waiting on them to bake they even played a cherry-themed game. Our residents loved the baking, the laughs, and of course the taste testing! A big thank you to Caris Healthcare for bringing joy and dessert to our home.

Today we loaded up the bus several times and went to the Back Of The Dragon Brewery Back of the Dragon, Virginia and had some pizza for lunch! Everyone said they loved the pizza!

A busy and fun day here at Dogwood Crossing! Our therapy department treated our residents to a relaxing nail day, while over in Willows Grove residents enjoyed a hands-on afternoon shucking fresh corn.

For our monthly birthday party we went back to school. We had pop quizzes cupcakes and reminisced about when we were in school. A big thank you to MSA home health and hospice for sponsoring our monthly birthday party.

At Dogwood Crossing we are proud of the dedication our team shows each and every day. Even on a busy Friday, when most are eager to start the weekend, one of our therapy staff chose to spend extra time with the resident playing connect four because he knew it mattered to her. That level of commitment and compassion is what sets our employees apart. We are grateful for a team that goes above and beyond to make a difference.

A sweet afternoon at Dogwood Crossing! Thank you to MSA home health and hospice for joining us in our cooking corner today. Our residents had so much fun making (and tasting!) homemade ice cream from scratch. Nothing beats good company and a delicious treat!

Last week, we were blessed with a special visit from a wonderful volunteer named Kierra, who spent time making bracelets with our residents! It wasn't just a fun and creative activity making jewelry like this is a great way to help keep seniors'minds sharp and their hands moving. Fine motor activities like beading support hand eye coordination, reduces stress, and spark meaningful conversations and memories. Thank you, Kiara, for your time and the smiles you brought to everyone's face.
