It’s been a slimy good week at Dogwood Crossing! We were thrilled to welcome the Tazewell second graders to our community all week long to make their very own slime! After the fun (and a little mess), our residents passed out treats and drinks to the kids. From Monday through Friday, over 100 smiling faces came through our doors — filling our halls with laughter, creativity, and joy. A huge thank-you to the teachers and students for spending time with us — our residents loved every minute of it! A special thank you to MSA home health and Odyssey therapy team for helping us out this week!

Halloween fun was in full swing today at Dogwood Crossing! Our residents had a spooktacular time at our Halloween party, sipping on festive punch, making their own spider and broomstick treats, and enjoying games like bowling, cornhole, and witches hat ring toss. Laughter, creativity, and plenty of smiles made for a frightfully good time! A big thank you to MSA Healthcare and Caris Healthcare

Pastor Appreciation Week 💙
This week we recognized Pastor Cicero for all that he does for our residents here at Dogwood Crossing. We are so thankful for him and for his brothers and sisters who come to share beautiful music and the Word with us. They not only lead uplifting services but also take time to visit residents who are sick and pray with them in their rooms. Your kindness, faith, and love truly bless our Dogwood family. Thank you for being our Pastor and for all that you do!

You remember all those magazines you donated?
Well, we finally put them to good use! Our residents had a blast ripping out pages, crumpling them up, and stuffing them into clothes to bring four scarecrows to life. It was a fun, hands-on way to recycle and get creative for fall. Thank you to everyone who donated magazines — you helped make this project possible!

Yesterday we celebrated our October birthdays with a cozy Flannel Woods & Bears–themed party!

Residents enjoyed a trail mix and hot chocolate bar that brought all the fall feels.
We even tested our knowledge with a round of Famous Bears Trivia — from Winnie the Pooh to Teddy Roosevelt, our residents were full of “bear-y” good answers! Special thank you to MSA for helping us every month with our birthday parties!

Today we painted jars and made beautiful fall flower arrangements!

Our residents took a trip around the world without ever leaving their seat! This week we visited Germany through our arm chair travel activity. We learned a few short words in German, watched a short video about the country, and enjoyed pretzels with root beer. Each resident got to take home their own souvenir beer mug shot glass to remember the day!

We had a great time this morning visiting the Tazewell Train Station & Visitors Center Did you know the station was built in 1928, served passengers until the late 1950s, and later handled freight? It was restored recently (2014–2019) and now serves as a visitors center and mini-museum filled with local railroad history.

Touchdown Celebration! 🏈
We had a ball at our monthly birthday party today with a fun football theme! From a game of Hot Football to delicious cupcakes, our residents had a blast celebrating September birthdays.Happy Birthday to all who celebrated this month!
