On May 12, 2026, at approximately 7:40 p.m., the Teague Police Department responded to a reported vehicle burglary in the 500 block of Main Street.

Officers learned the burglary occurred earlier that day between approximately 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Reported stolen items included approximately $4,200 in cash, a metal cash box with money tray, a bank bag, and identity documents.

The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division for follow-up. During the investigation, surveillance video was obtained and reviewed. Investigators positively identified the suspect as 36-year-old Ycoveack Stevenson.

Reckless Driving / DWI Arrest

On Monday, May 25, 2026, at approximately 3:49 p.m., an on-duty Teague Police Department officer was stationary near the west city limits when a motorist who had reported a reckless driver alerted the officer to the suspect vehicle as it entered town near Freestone Mobile Home Park on U.S. Highway 84 West.

The officer caught up to the vehicle near North 4th Avenue and observed the vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit and failing to maintain a single marked lane. A traffic stop was initiated, but the driver failed to stop and continued onto McGee Street before turning into the McGee Street Apartments, where the vehicle came to a stop.

Officers contacted the driver, identified as 39-year-old Wilber A. Moncada Bustillo, and observed signs of intoxication. Bustillo was unable to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and was placed under arrest. He later consented to a breath test, which indicated a result over the legal limit.

Bustillo was booked into the Freestone County Jail. Texas DPS assisted with this incident.

We thank the reporting motorist for helping alert officers to a potentially dangerous situation. If you see a reckless or impaired driver, call 911 when it is safe to do so.

All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

UPDATE: SHOTS FIRED CASE CLOSED BY ARREST

Teague PD has closed the investigation into the shots fired incident from May 6th in the 700 block of Spruce Street.

The suspect was booked into the Freestone County Jail for:

This morning at 10:00 AM, the Teague Police Department hosted our first “Coffee with a Cop” at the Teague Seniors, located at 738 US Hwy 84 W.

We had a great time visiting with residents over coffee, donuts, and kolaches, and we truly enjoyed the opportunity to connect in a relaxed, friendly setting.

Sgt. Weinmann presented an important topic on recognizing and avoiding common scams, offering practical tips to help protect our seniors and community members. The discussion was lively, informative, and well‑received.

The event went exceptionally well, and it was clear that everyone appreciated the chance to come together, share concerns, and strengthen relationships.

We sincerely appreciate everyone who attended and contributed to the conversation.

Your involvement helps us continue building strong, positive community partnerships here in Teague.

We look forward to hosting more events like this in the near future.
