Don’t Let Grinches Steal Your Christmas!

The holiday season is for joy—not for thieves! Opportunistic crime tends to rise this time of year, so Teague Police Department wants to remind everyone to stay vigilant and protect what matters most by following these simple ideas:

1. Lock your doors, windows, an4d vehicles – even if it’s just for a
minute. Use timers for lights and ask for extra patrols when away
for extending times.

2. Secure gifts and valuables out of sight – gifts, electronics, bags,
along with cash or credit/debit cards should never be left in
plain sight.

3. Report any suspicious activity immediately - if you see
something, say something!

A few simple steps can keep the Grinches away and make sure your holidays stay merry and bright. 🎅

Date of Incident: October 25, 2025

Location: 400 block of Cox Avenue, Teague, TX

Late Saturday night, Teague Police responded to a call about a suspicious person who apparently mistook someone else’s home for their own… or maybe a short-term rental. The homeowner reported that a woman had entered their residence without permission and then bolted out the door - without sticking around for snacks or a refreshing conversation with the residents or our officer.

Officers quickly located the suspect, identified as Kelsie Marie Bugg, who was apparently just passing through — the living room.

After a brief investigation, Ms. Bugg was arrested for Criminal Trespass of Habitation (Class A Misdemeanor) and given a new address: Freestone County Jail.

“Big thanks to the resident for their quick thinking and to our officers for their fast response.

Just a friendly reminder: if it’s not your house, maybe don’t go inside… unless you really enjoy spending time in Freestone County Jail.”

🚓 DWI Arrest – Not the Kind of Off-Roading We Recommend 🚓

Date: October 25, 2025

Time: 1:59 a.m.

Location: 200 block of Main Street, Teague

While on patrol in the early hours of Saturday morning, one of our officers spotted a white Ford pickup that had taken a detour into a ditch near the railway crossing. The driver, identified as Elizabeth Jade Six, was still in the driver’s seat with the door wide open—like she was waiting for room service.

After a quick investigation and a field sobriety test, Ms. Six was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. She was taken to Freestone County Jail, where she submitted to a breath test showing a BAC of 0.146—almost double the legal limit.

She’s now facing a Class B Misdemeanor charge.

Friendly reminder: If you’ve been drinking, let someone else take the wheel. Ditches aren’t parking spots.

🚨 FRIDAY FOOT CHASE — FREESTONE STYLE 🚨

At about 4:38 PM today, Teague PD responded to a criminal trespass call at Freestone Apartments. The suspect, John Williams, decided to test his cardio and took off on foot through nearby residences.

What followed was a coordinated pursuit involving Teague PD, Freestone County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS, and even a member of the Teague Volunteer Fire Department—because when it comes to teamwork, we don’t mess around.

Mr. Williams was safely taken into custody without incident. Charges include:
• Criminal Trespass
• Evading Arrest or Detention
• Outstanding Warrant: Bond Forfeiture – Possession of a Controlled Substance

Big thanks to all agencies who jumped in without hesitation. No injuries, no drama—just good old-fashioned cooperation and a reminder that when we work together, the community wins.

Stay safe out there, Teague. And if you’re thinking about running from the law… maybe stretch first.

Sticky Fingers Meet Sticky Situation: Alarm Does Its Job!

Alert at Dollar General turned into a swift—and slightly humiliating—ending for a would‑be thief. On October 12, 2025, at about 4:00 PM an off‑duty Teague police officer was waiting in line when they heard the anti‑theft alarm sound off and watched a woman attempt to flee the store. The officer pursued, detained the woman, later identified as Michelle Gilliard, and another individual, holding them until an on‑duty officer arrived. The other person was subsequently released at the scene with no charges.

A quick search recovered the stolen merchandise and returned it to the store.

During the search Officers also found 3.4 grams of methamphetamine, several gabapentin pills, and a ma*****na blunt on Gilliard.

Gilliard was arrested and booked on Possession of a Controlled Substance 1–4 grams (third‑degree felony), Possession of Dangerous Drugs, and Possession of Ma*****na.

Our officers performed in an exemplary manner in their response and handling of this matter.

Final note for anyone tempted to make a fast exit: alarms do their job, attempting to flee only makes a bad decision more memorable, and the store loyalty card does not cover mugshots — maybe stick to bargain hunting, not fiver finger discounts.

🐾 Final Update: Animal Cruelty Allegations 🐾

We are providing this final update regarding the recent animal cruelty allegations to inform the community of the outcome and to formally conclude our involvement in the matter.

The dogs’ owner voluntarily surrendered both animals to Teague Animal Control approximately 8:54 am. A rescue volunteer assisted in transporting them to Dallas Animal Services (DAS), the facility where they were originally received. During the transfer, our Animal Control Officer confirmed there were no signs of abuse or neglect and that both dogs appeared to be in good health.

Approximately 11:30 am the dogs were accepted by the Dallas Animal Services. Upon intake, DAS veterinary staff conducted a thorough evaluation and verified that the dogs are healthy and receiving appropriate care. They are now being transferred to a foster home for a 48-hour hold, after which they will be placed with an out-of-state adoption organization.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the dogs’ owner, Teague Animal Control, the dedicated rescue volunteer, Teague Police Officers, and the staff at Dallas Animal Services for their professionalism and compassion throughout this process.

With this update, our role in the matter is complete. We remained focused on the facts, acted responsibly, and ensured the animals received the care they deserved.
