Happy New Year!!

I took yesterday to take in the New Year with family and truly assess what I’m looking forward to in this New Year.. At first I was thinking, what Resolutions will I make for 2022??

As many of you, I have made these “resolutions” in the past and did a FANTASTIC job of sticking with them for about… 2 weeks! As I was debating this in my head yesterday, I thought I wonder where “resolutions” came from…

According to the History Channel, “resolutions” have been around for thousands of years! Back in ancient Babylonian times, celebrations with the New Year included reaffirming their loyalty to their new king and making promises to the god’s to pay for debts or return borrowed items. So, if they would do what they promised – the god’s would bestow favor on them and if not, they would fall out of their god’s favor. Then, in ancient Rome the Romans would offer sacrifices to their god and promises of good conduct. Then, more recently Christians would review their mistakes and vow to do better in the New Year.

Now, in recent times and research “resolutions” have been recorded that as many as 45% of Americans usually make “resolutions” – but as little as 8% are successful… 😳

In reflection of this and my own history with “resolutions”, my plan is to set GOALS for myself. 🙌

❓ Who else is going to set GOALS for this year???

🤔 While many of you may be asking, how should I do this?

Here are my suggestions:
1.) Brainstorm items that you would like to make changes to this year and prioritize these few items. This list should be 3-5 items you would like to work on (too many will make it difficult to be successful).
2.) After prioritizing these GOALS, make sure that they are encompassing of your life and not just one area. This will help to ensure that you are working on many items. This is helpful because you may not be successful with 1 or more of your GOALS, but if they are in different aspects of your life – hopefully you would still have something to succeed at.
3.) Post YOUR prioritized list of GOALS in several areas of your home (bathroom mirror, fridge, planner, workout area). This will help you to physically SEE your GOALS many times each day. This will help to change your mindset and allow you to FOCUS on your GOALS.
4.) Tell your Family and Friends some of your GOALS. This will help to hold yourself accountable for what your GOALS are.
5.) Recognize that NO ONE IS PERFECT! Not EVERY day can be perfection! This is okay and normal! Don’t give up on your GOALS because of one situation, day, or set-back. Just keep re-focusing yourself on your GOALS and keep moving forward!!
6.) Celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how small! Celebrate your dedication and reflect on the amount of time you have been working on your GOALS. This is not a marathon or a race, it is YOUR journey!

🙋 Tell me YOUR GOALS for 2022 and we can work through this year TOGETHER!

With 2022 right around the corner... Hitting the reset button and coming to a full stop in NOT EASY…but, it can be totally necessary at times.

When you need to figure out WHAT is working, WHO is working and know WHERE you truly want to GO…take the time to STOP and breathe.

Examine what’s been working for you and it’s ok to take some time to JUST BE! 🙏🏻💕

It may require starting over, but you’ll get to the right place much more quickly. I can guarantee it. 😊

👉 I have some new plans coming up, what are YOURS??!

🏠 Nursing a Healthier Home was created from a conversation I had with my mom prior to her death last year.. 💜 It's still extremely difficult to "move on" without her.. But grief is a funny thing. I have been amazed at my own strength through this journey over the last year.. Lost both my parents, had 4 surgeries, sold their house, sold our house, Covid, currently building a house.. Life changes, those that we lose bring strength to those they love.. Hugs to all for losses or for changes that weren't necessarily a choice.. We each have our own "things".. 🙏 No matter what we have to keep moving forward and making the time we have left count..🙌

Weekly Spotlight: COME TO YOUR EFFIN SENSES

They are Ron and Amy Proffitt, proud Founders of Come to Your Effin Senses. Our sassy candle and gifts company was born during the pandemic, to help us stay sane and keep our snarky sense of humor intact. Our Veteran-made business launched in January of this year, and is based locally in Brooklyn, MI.
While we do not have a store front, we are fortunate to have amazing partners who help showcase our products in the community.
At Come to Your Effin Senses, we take pride in creating high-quality, hand-poured all-natural soy candles with pleasant smells, and a smidge of profanity. We love what we do, and we hope you love our candles too! If you're offended by the names, we aren't sorry...that's how we roll.
Find us on Facebook and Instagram! Although we are local, we do ship to anywhere in the U.S. Thanks for your support!

There have been many of you that have reached out about what I am working on.. Today is the day!! 🥳

Today is the LAUNCH of my new business, Nursing a Healthier Home!! This is a project that I have been working on since my mom was diagnosed last year and she had some major influence on me "chasing my dreams".. She would always tell me to do what makes you happy and GO FOR IT! She actually helped me design some of my business prior to her passing last year. So, on her birthday and in honor of her - Today is the day!
