Seen a report of your screentime lately? We’ve all been using our phones and computers more and more. And screentime use has its upsides: staying informed, entertained and connected with friends and family. But that can also cause an increase in depression, negative body image, poor-quality sleep and stress. Visit ahlink.org/3OpWFIT to learn how limiting the time you spend on your phone or computer can make you feel better.

Cancer treatments have come a long way. According to Dr. Jekwon Yeh, modern chemotherapy is far more patient-friendly than it was in the past, with fewer side effects and better options for managing symptoms. Radiation therapy has also advanced, with oncologists now using precise 3D planning to minimize exposure and reduce toxicity. All of these advancements are creating safer, more effective care.

Coworkers and patients agree: Anyone who needs a listening ear can turn to Teri Strahan (4th from left), Behavioral Health Supervisor at Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley, and know she genuinely and deeply cares.

She’s selfless, hardworking, accommodating, and accepting. She often puts others’ needs above her own and even sacrifices lunch breaks to help those in need. And when life gets tough, she finds a way to look on the bright side.
"Teri comes in with a smile on her face, listens to everyone, and is always so happy and sweet,” says Kaylene Shelton, Director of Operations at Adventist Health, East Kern County. “She is a shining star and a blessing to those who know her.”

Thank you, Teri, for the selfless care you consistently share!

Kim and her sister committed to receiving their regular screenings together. That act of comradery helped to detect her breast cancer and begin treatment to beat it. "Having your mammograms on a regular schedule could save your life. It saved mine," says Kim, who is a wife, mother, and an Adventist Health nurse. "The beauty is, I get to write my own story."

As Yom Kippur begins, we pause for a moment of stillness and reflection. This sacred day offers a chance to renew, to seek peace, and to embrace the hope of a new beginning. Many in our community, including our cherished staff and patients, are observing this holy day through fasting, prayer, and time spent in synagogue. We wish all who observe Yom Kippur, a year filled with clarity, compassion, and renewal.
