I picked up my renewal permit today. They do have a new format being used as we mentioned. Eventually they will be plastic cards like your drivers license. Also due to the new format you will be limited to 5-6 guns being listed. KCSO is working with permitium website to get this figured out. However it doesn’t sound like it will be 10 guns listed anytime in the near future. The paper format makes it much easier to fold in half and be the size of a credit card without covering up any information.

Friends it has come to our attention that several of you could have an invalid permit. If you renewed your permit on or after March 12, 2024 then you may be affected. There was an update by DOJ and KCSO was unaware. KCSO has been notifying people and a couple have reached out to us. One of the them has already got their updated permit. It is still paper but now includes your Drivers License picture in color. Also his permit only listed 5 guns of the 7 he previously has listed, which KCSO is working to get the DOJ up to date since Kern allows you to list 10 guns. The licensing office was closed the last couple weeks to work on this and get everyone affected an updated permit. However there may be some people out there that have not been contacted yet. They still had an orange banner with information on their webpage today but it listed today as the date for them to reopen.
Also if you recently submitted your renewal but had not heard from them yet be patient. I submitted my renewal almost three weeks ago and I just got a notification this morning it was ready for pick up.

BREAKING! SB2 injunction administrative stay lifted in last minute appeal to the court by our attorneys!

SB2 injunction is now back in place which means the conceal carry in sensitive places portion of SB2 is not enforceable!

Hello Friends, several have asked about our 2024 schedule. As of right now we will NOT have a January class, due to the new requirements being imposed with SB 2. Our first class of 2024 is tentatively set for the second Saturday of February 2024. We do have a class on 12/30/23, if you’re permit expires in January or February I recommend getting into our December class under the current training requirements. Once I confirm our 2024 dates, I will send out an email with those dates.

Our office in Tehachapi California will be conducting an additional class on Saturday December 30, 2023. If your permit expires within 60 days after that date or are a new applicant that has been given the green light form KCSO to get trained, you can take the class, qualify, and renew under the current requirements and pricing. Please email tehachapiimmtt@gmail.com to sign up for that class.

On September 26, 2023, Governor Gavin Newsom signed into effect Senate Bill No. 2 that likely goes into effect on January 1, 2024.
This bill requires CCW courses of training be at least 16 hours for new CCW applicants and 8 hours for renewals.
Senate Bill No. 2 also requires the CCW course of training to include instruction on firearm handling, shooting technique, and to include a demonstration, by the applicant, of shooting proficiency and safe handling of each firearm the applicant will be licensed to carry.
The course must include firearm safety, safe storage, legal methods to transport fi****ms and securing fi****ms in vehicles, laws governing where permit holders may carry fi****ms, laws regarding the permissible use of a firearm, mental health/mental health resources and laws regarding the permissible use of lethal force in self-defense.
Course prices will double and we are now working to comply with all state requirements. If you are coming up on renewal and within the window get re-certified now before this course goes up in price!

Hello Friends,
I wanted to let you know that California SB 2 that passed in September of 2023, takes affect January 1, 2024. This will impact the amount of training required for new and recertification CCW training, amongst other CCW related laws. Initial classes will now be 16 hours and renewal classes will be 8 hours. This also means the cost of a class will double due to the additional training required. If your permit expires soon contact us about getting trained before the new requirements take affect. Reminder that classes can be taken up to 60 days prior to permit experation and renewals can be submitted up to 30 days prior to permit expiration. Currently our December class is scheduled for Saturday the 9th. However it is almost full. If there is enough interest we can add another class. If not we can also conduct private qualifications with online training.

Check your permits friends. If your permit expires in the next 60 days or less we have a class on 9/16/23 with some open seats. If you are in need of the initial training we can get you trained too.
