The Legacy residents enjoyed an outing to French Lick Resort to look at the beautiful Christmas decorations. The crowd favorite was definitely the life sized gingerbread house which is made from real gingerbread cookies and confections. Several residents said the decorations reminded them of the large department store displays from their childhood.

Now that the Thanksgiving season has wrapped up we wanted to share some projects our Legacy residents worked on during the fall. Every Thursday we do an activity focusing on Thankfulness. Oftentimes residents may feel they no longer have things to be thankful for because they have lost so much. So when they can no longer remember we help them focus on all the wonderful things in their lives they can still be thankful for. We worked together to make a gratitude tree and gratitude jar showing off what they are thankful for in their lives to display on the Legacy unit.

Terissa has been a nurse for 5 years. When asking her favorite thing about Oakwood here is what she had to say, "The family oriented atmosphere. From the residents, residents families, staff, management & support. It truly feels like home away from home. Everyone supports the highs & lows and you cannot find that just anywhere. I love Oakwood because I get to give back to my hometown and so many residents that have shaped the way for us. Being a part of the Oakwood Family is something I take pride in & look forward to many more years".

This unforgettable journey allowed her to visit the memorials dedicated to the brave men and women who served our country. Jenny was accompanied by her nephew Paul, and together they enjoyed a meaningful and memorable experience.
