Know your Tallow
Your skin is your largest organ. It absorbs all the chemicals and impurities you put on it.
The difference between grass fed and grain fed๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Grass-Fed Tallow:
๐Richer in vitamins A, D, E, and K2, CLA, and Omega-3 fatty acids.
๐Superior for skin (moisturizing, anti-aging) and health due to lower inflammatory properties.
๐Often has a slightly yellow hue (indicating high beta-carotene), firmer texture, and a more robust scent.
๐Generally produced through more sustainable, regenerative farming.
Grain-Fed Tallow:
Lower in Omega-3 and CLA, higher in Omega-6 fats.
Generally whiter in color, softer or more oily, and often has a milder, more neutral scent
More affordable, accessible, and suitable for high-heat cooking.
Drawbacks: Less nutrient-dense; may contain higher amounts of pesticides/herbicides stored in fat from grain-fed diet.
Fatty Acid Composition: Grass-fed is higher in stearic acid, whereas grain-fed has higher levels of palmitic, myristic, and lauric acids.
Best Use: Grass-fed is superior for skin creams, soap-making, and health-focused cooking.
Grain-fed is acceptable for budget-conscious, everyday cooking.
