Support "Be Home Soon California" and prioritize funding for Private Duty Nursing for children like April.

April is 15 years old and lives with Cerebral Palsy and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. She experiences more than 50 seizures each day. Her care requires continuous monitoring and immediate skilled intervention to keep her medically stable at home.

Before receiving consistent Private Duty Nursing (PDN), April was hospitalized nearly every month and suffered frequent infections. Due to ongoing nursing shortages, her mom was forced to leave her job and rely on government assistance to care for April full-time. With regular nursing services, April's health has dramatically improved, she has avoided many hospitalizations, and her mom has been able to return to work.

Increased funding for PDN helps families and the state avoid more costly alternatives such as hospitalization, institutional placement, and long-term reliance on government assistance.

Seven-year-old Mia has been fighting for her life since the day she was born. She suffered a hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain at birth. Since then, she has faced daily medical challenges with incredible strength.

Private Duty Nursing (PDN) is not a luxury for Mia. It is a medical necessity that helps keep her safe at home and supports her complex medical needs. Beyond her diagnoses, Mia is a joyful, resilient child who deserves the opportunity to thrive safely at home with her family.

Today is World Multiple Sclerosis Day, an opportunity to foster unity among the MS community, raise awareness, and support further research.

Every five minutes, someone in the world is diagnosed with MS. This autoimmune disease affects the central nervous system and can cause various symptoms including tingling, fatigue, vision problems, and muscle spasms. While there is currently no cure for MS, treatment can focus on slowing the progression of symptoms and reducing relapses.

This year's theme for World Multiple Sclerosis Day is "My MS Diagnosis: Navigating MS Together." This campaign advocates for early and accurate diagnosis of MS to build supportive communities and uplift those living with the disease.

May is Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Awareness Month! This global recognition event educates communities about this rare genetic disorder and raises support for the one million people living with it worldwide.

Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) is a genetic condition that causes non-cancerous tumors or lesions to grow throughout the body, including the brain, eyes, lungs, heart, kidneys, and skin. Symptoms of TSC can begin in infancy, and symptoms can vary from person to person depending on the size or location of the tumors. While there is currently no cure for TSC, treatments can help manage symptoms.
