Chronic Fatigue Fatigue Syndrome: The Cause And How To Reverse It
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a serious long-term illness that often makes people unable to do their usual activities and severely impacts their quality of life.
The main symptom is “fatigue for over 6 months that worsens with activity and doesn’t improve with rest”.
A simple activity of just walking around the block can be exhausting for CFS sufferers.
In addition to fatigue, other symptoms can include joint or muscle pain, anxiety, depression, muscle weakness, confusion, lack of concentration, sensitivity to pain, malaise, and excessive sleepiness or sleep disturbances.
About 2.5 million Americans suffer from Chronic fatigue. 90% of cases are in the 25 to 50 year old age range.
Although many theories exist as to the cause of CFS, ultimately it comes down to the brain and nervous system being unable to overcome and adapt to stress. This includes physical, chemical, and emotional stress.
The inability to deal with daily stress over time exhausts the nervous system, leading to many health issues, including CFS.
Many people who suffer from this condition have noticed significant improvement and even alleviation of symptoms with regular chiropractic care.
A study published in the December 11, 2012 issue of the Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research reports on the “cases of nineteen people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) who experienced significant improvements in their quality of life after being under chiropractic care for the six-month study”.
“Authors H. Charles Woodfield, BS Pharmacy, DC, and Marshall Dickholtz, Sr., DC, F**A, studied 19 people who met at least 4 of the diagnostic criteria for CFS and had been fatigued for at least 6 months.”
The subjects filled out the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire at the beginning of the study, three months in, and then again at the end of six months.
The findings revealed significant improvement in the general health component, 30.3 (pre) to 55.6 (post) and mental health went from 46.4 to 68.6.
After a few adjustments, many chiropractic patients have reported more energy, less pain and inflammation in joints, greater mobility and flexibility, better sleep, and an overall sense of well-being.
Chiropractic research has demonstrated that regular chiropractic adjustments help the brain and nervous system be better able to adapt to stress allowing them to communicate properly with the body.
This keeps the nervous system functioning optimally which will help keep you healthy and well.
