Pudendal nerve entrapment is a very common cause of chronic buttock pain. It is caused by compression of the pudendal nerve. The symptoms of this condition usually include pain in one or both buttocks during running and pelvic floor dysfunction such as constipation or difficulty voiding, or both. This may be accompanied with symptoms such as numbness and tingling in the groin area extending down into one leg (sciatica). Pudendal neuralgia can affect males and females alike, but seems to be more common than previously thought. If you’re experiencing these symptoms and suspect you might have pudendal entrapment treatment options are available that can help you get back on track!

Before seeing an orthopedic surgeon, it is important to think about the things you want to discuss and how you want to go about asking questions about your condition. Bring a written list of symptoms or specific questions for the doctor. This way, you’ll make sure that you cover all your bases and the doctor won’t be able to miss anything. If you’re not sure what questions to ask, do some research on the condition. You can also speak with a doctor or other medical professionals who have experience with the type of injury you sustained.
