While many parents and children step out this weekend for some spooky fun, here's a reminder to keep celebrations safe with a few simple steps:
- Check factory-sealed candy; discard anything unsealed or suspicious
- Don't share vapes, drinks, or unknown edibles
- Use the buddy system and set check-in times
- If going out during nighttime, wear reflective or light colored clothes or carry a light

Plan ahead, enjoy the night, and stay safe!

Older adults are an often overlooked demographic in the , as shown by new research presented at the The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) 2025 annual meeting, emphasizing a key point: no one is immune to the opioid crisis. Fentanyl-stimulant overdose deaths in older adults surged 9,000% from 2015 to 2023, with nearly half of 2023 fentanyl deaths in this group involving a stimulant, often co***ne or m**h.

Preparedness can help save lives. Making sure that opioid reversal agents are within reach, whether at schools, nursing homes, gyms, or concert venues, is critical when every second counts. Learn more about preparedness at www.odrescue.com.

Four minutes. That's how fast oxygen loss during an opioid overdose can lead to irreversible brain injury. In a hallway, classroom, or dorm party, a delayed response becomes deadly.

The ODRescue™ Alert puts overdose-response tools where they're seen and can be reached fast. Designed with input from first responders and nurses, the ODRescue™ Alert was developed to support decisive action until EMS arrives.

Place it where it matters: residence halls, cafeterias, libraries, gyms, and arenas. Opioid overdoses can happen anywhere. Learn more: https://loom.ly/KHm-t2c

Thank you once again, United Against Fentanyl, for arranging the Walk for Lives event. The ODRescue™ team was honored to walk alongside families, survivors, and advocates during the Walk for Lives and to hear their stories. At our tent, attendees added names to a community mosaic, made friendship bracelets in remembrance, and learned practical ways to strengthen overdose response on campuses and in neighborhoods.

As UAF's Paul E. Martin reminds us. "History teaches us that we have the power to change things... when ordinary people refuse to accept what is unacceptable." We agree. While recent data shows a decline in overdose deaths, the crisis remains urgent - especially for young adults. Vigilance and education are key as stronger opioids arrive in our communities.

Thank you, United Against Fentanyl and Bearroots Co. for uniting our local community for a cause. On September 20, our team was honored to walk alongside survivors, families, and advocates while listening to the devastating impact that fentanyl and opioids are having in the community.

"It was truly meaningful to connect with the community," says Summer Scott, ODRescue™ staff member and FFF Enterprises marketing specialist. "Our goal was simply to create a space where they felt seen, heard, and supported."

At the ODRescue tent, attendees came together to add names to an Honor Walk mosaic, create friendship bracelets of unity and remembrance, and share powerful stories. As Mark Wojciechowski, ODRescue Business Development Manager, shared, "People are trying to figure out what to do and how they can help."

Raising awareness and educating others about the opioid epidemic is the first step we can all take in ending it.
