When You Know What to Look For, You Can Help Stop Human Trafficking.

Every day, NEMT professionals enter homes, facilities, and neighborhoods where signs of human trafficking can go unnoticed. Like home service workers and first responders, drivers are often among the few outsiders who regularly see individuals in vulnerable situations.

The Michigan State Police created this short awareness video to help service professionals recognize potential indicators of trafficking and understand how to respond safely and appropriately.

Preparing for the Next New Jersey NEMT Contract

The New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS) is in the final stages of selecting a vendor for its statewide Transportation Broker Services contract (Solicitation # 24DPP01040).

While the bid closes October 30, 2025, providers should prepare now for the transition that will follow once a new contract is awarded. This upcoming change may affect how non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) trips are assigned, verified, and reimbursed under the state’s Medicaid program.

Key points for New Jersey providers:
• Expect updated administrative and data-reporting requirements once the new broker begins operations.
• Providers should confirm that vehicle documentation, insurance, and driver credentials are current to ensure smooth onboarding.
• Anticipate enhancements in trip verification, GPS, and compliance technology aligned with federal and state program integrity goals.
• Be prepared to meet network participation requirements, including ADA, safety, and quality standards.
• Small, Minority, and Veteran-Owned businesses may see new subcontracting opportunities as statewide implementation proceeds.

The Maryland Department of Health has issued RFP # MDH-OCMP-26-24719 for the statewide administration of non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) under the Maryland Medicaid program.

Deadline: November 20 2025 at 2:00 p.m. ET
This is a major opportunity for brokers, transport providers, tech vendors and MBE/VSBE firms to participate in a centralized, statewide NEMT model.
