DECISIONS! DON’T COME EASY….
Read or don’t!
Well I made a very difficult one over the weekend and closed the loop these past few days. I made the decision to resign my position at McClintock as Head Track & Field Coach. Instead my goal is two-fold moving forward. 1. I aim to put more focus back into my coaching business while continuing to grow 2Gether We Live. 2. I plan to go after some lofty challenges while my body still has the strength to do so.
It wasn’t an easy decision by any means to not coach at McClintock. I’ve come to care about many of the youth I’ve been able to work with. But unfortunately with track and field comes a huge time commitment, one I’m not willing to give moving forward as my cancer progresses along with my limited time here on earth.
I’ve never been one to be selfish or at least not in my own opinion. Maybe others see that differently than I do but that’s okay too. I’m refocusing my energy and expertise back into growing my coaching business where it once was over 15 years ago. Now while I realize many more resources, coaches, and free online programs exist today, I also realize the most important part of coaching, the human connection, the opportunity to train with others weekly which bring the greatest value. It’s the one area that I’ve put my greatest focus over the years knowing that human connection is the greatest asset one can hold. We don’t go to the grave with material things, we go to the grave knowing we’ve loved with all our heart and we were loved in return. That’s truly living and dying with grace.
So over the next few months I’ll be aggressively pursuing both my new focus points. Pray it works out and if not I won’t go down without a fight or without regret knowing I did exactly what my heart called me to do!
