Donate Life Month is in full swing!

Last week, we kicked off the month with Banner Health! We raised the Donate Life flag, heard from transplant recipients, a donor mother and the health care professionals that help make donation possible. The first of many this month 💚💙

Banner Health has been here since day 1.

In fact, Arizona's first organ donation program was originally coordinated by a department of Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center (now called Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix). By 1986, the hospital had established the state’s first organ and tissue bank, Arizona Organ and Tissue Bank (AOTB).

Thanks for being here for the last 40 years of saving lives. Cheers to the next 🥂

"In my role, I have the privilege of planning and executing several of DNA’s signature events that put a face to donation in the communities we serve, whether that’s at the state Capitol during Donate Life Day at the Capitol or on Central Avenue walking alongside our larger-than-life Reggie the Donor Cactus balloon during the Fiesta Bowl Parade. I also work closely with many of our workplace partners, helping them support our mission by sponsoring Donate Life Arizona events."

Darion has served as student body president in both high school and while attending Grand Canyon University. He also loves traveling to watch NFL games (even if the Arizona Cardinals don't always do the best).

We love having you on the team, Darion!

Ray Brooks was diagnosed with end-stage liver disease in August 2005. For eight long years, he waited for a second chance at life.

His kidney transplant didn't just restore his health. It reshaped his purpose.

This March, we're taking steps to help us move closer to a world united for kidney health through the American Society of Nephrology's 850 challenge. Read more at https://www.dnaz.org/the-850-challenge-national-kidney-month/.

Last week, we hosted the 18th annual Donate Life Day at the Capitol!

DNA leadership, alongside donor families, transplant recipients and a living donor, met with legislators and their staff to share the lifesaving impact of donation and discuss the work being done to support those waiting for a transplant. Together we have the opportunity to put a face to donation and encourage continued support for policies that promote organ and tissue donation in Arizona. 💙

Donation and transplantation has been influenced by women, and we're continuing the legacy here. Help us reflect on the women in your life who have made an impact. Tell them why.
